**Duties include but are not limited to**:
- Develop and manage annual Capital Renewal Plan for HWDSB’s facility renewal (all administrative buildings and schools).
- Allocate staff and budget resources for implementation of Capital Renewal Plan.
- Direct, lead and oversee Capital Project Supervisors undertaking assigned group of capital projects to ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies including Ministry of Education and Board Policies & Directives.
- Act as key staff resource for Capital Projects division of Facilities Management and ensure effective communication with all levels of Board including school communities, administrators and senior Board staff regarding all capital construction. Ensuring Capital Project staff are meeting customer service delivery expectations for all projects/services provided.
- Develop & implement annual Capital Renewal Plan and communicate implementation specifics such as schedule, scope.
- Act as key staff resource for Capital Projects department. Respond to issues regarding capital project requests, status of construction, concerns with safety due to construction, or other concerns regarding FM processes.
- Deliver new schools and revitalize existing facilities to create effective learning environments for HWDSB.
- Provide presentations at School Council/Community Information Meeting to communicate status of upcoming new school construction.
- Respond to concerns related to ongoing or upcoming construction. Create new capital projects on eBase system if an issue identified by FM staff is not already a requested project.
- Compliance with legislation and regulations such Ontario Building Code, Fire Code, Ministry policies.
**Qualifications**:
- A degree / post-secondary qualifications in the related field of Architecture, Project Management, or Engineering
- Minimum of seven years of project development related experience, preferably in a an educational setting
- Minimum of two years of management leadership experience, preferably in a n educational setting
- Demonstrated strategic planning, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills with a customer service-oriented approach
- Current knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory requirements, and Ministry planning guidelines
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal with multi-disciplinary groups of stakeholders
- Excellent conflict resolution/mediation, critical thinking, problem solving, time management and organizational skills
- Excellent leadership and management skills enhanced by strong team building, cultivating an open and supportive environment and building good working relationships with staff and stakeholders through strong communication and responding in a timely manner.
- Fair and objective approach to all personnel and working situations to carry out all aspects of staff supervision.
- Proven communication skills related to problem-solving and conflict resolution including the ability to manage sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy
- Ability to stay calm in busy and stressful situations, effectively assessing/addressing challenges while maintaining confidentiality.
- Demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse school community and/or work environment
- Requirement to work after hours when required and to respond to after-hour emergencies.
- Some requirement to work evening hours when required based on system needs.
- A valid driver’s license and use of a personal vehicle required.
