The Africa Centre is a leading Black-led organization in Western Canada, focused on supporting and empowering Black communities. Through the Supporting Black Canadian Communities Initiative (SBCCI), we provide critical funding and resources to Black-led and Black-serving organizations across Western Canada, helping them build capacity and achieve success.

**Position Overview**

We are seeking a **Project Coordinator** to support the SBCCI program (**6 months contract**) by managing and overseeing funded projects and funded organizations. The Project Coordinator will ensure that all organizations comply with funder requirements, meet project milestones, and achieve their intended outcomes. This role is vital to ensuring the success and sustainability of the initiatives funded by the SBCCI.

**Key Responsibilities**
- **Funded Project and Organization Management**:

- Oversee a portfolio of funded organizations, ensuring their projects are executed in alignment with their approved project plans and funder requirements.
- Ensure that all project activities are in compliance with Schedule A and funder guidelines.
- Regularly monitor project progress, providing guidance to organizations as they implement their initiatives.
- **Compliance and Reporting**:

- Ensure organizations meet all compliance requirements, including financial reporting, timelines, and project deliverables.
- Assist organizations in preparing and submitting accurate and timely progress reports and final project evaluations.
- Review and reconcile financial documentation to ensure all expenses are eligible and in line with funder expectations.
- **Support and Capacity Building**:

- Coordinate and deliver virtual and in-person workshops to provide funded organizations with tools, resources, and knowledge to successfully execute their projects.
- Conduct 1:1 meetings with sub-agreement holders to collect impact stories, review project progress, and provide tailored support to address any challenges.
- Facilitate ongoing support by providing organizations with the necessary resources to stay on track and meet their goals.
- **Collaboration and Communication**:

- Act as a liaison between the SBCCI team and funded organizations, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project requirements.
- Foster collaboration among funded organizations, encouraging the sharing of best practices and solutions to common challenges.

**Qualifications and Skills**
- Bachelor’s degree in project management, public administration, social sciences, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in project coordination, particularly in managing grant-funded projects or working with non-profit organizations.
- Strong financial management skills, with experience in financial reconciliation and compliance monitoring.
- Excellent organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in working with diverse communities and stakeholders.
- Understanding of issues affecting Black-led organizations and experience in capacity-building initiatives is preferred.
- Proficiency with project management tools and software (e.g., MS Office, Google Suite, and project management software).
