What You’ll be Doing

Ensuring payroll documents are received, processed, and archived according to departmental policies;
Responsible for the regular collection, input and audit of private and confidential data used to complete year end slips;
Running PeopleSoft Queries and working with data in excel to produce reports;
Bi-weekly collecting, consolidating, formatting, and uploading of electronic data to PeopleSoft Time & Labor Module;
Performing a variety of data integrity checks which include advanced Excel functions such as VLOOKUP and MACRO;
Ensuring overtime is paid according to the appropriate rules per employee group using your knowledge of Employment Standards and Collective Agreements;
Identifying, investigating, and correcting all variances to allow for a successful upload to PeopleSoft HR;
Monitoring ROE requests and ensuring all ROE reporting is completed within legislated timelines;
Using Service Canada’s ROE WEB software to report insurable hours and earnings online for all employee types;
Calculating and auditing of OT reporting to ensure completeness and compliance with the Employment Standards Act (ESA) and Collective Agreements;
Supporting Payroll function as required during peak processing periods and vacation coverage;
Performing other related duties as assigned.

2-year diploma in Human Resource Management, Accounting/Finance or related field.

Minimum of 2 years of experience working in Payroll with exposure to large business information systems like PeopleSoft.

Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation from the Canadian Payroll Association is an asset.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook, with advanced Excel skills (including experience using Macros).

Experience with accounting principles, mathematical calculations, and general ledger distributions will also be considered an asset.
