**Position Description**:
Tele-Mental Heatlh Service (TMHS) Provincial Indigenous Coordinator will provide strategic leadership and consultation for the TMHS across Ontario. The Indigenous Coordinator will play a collaborative role in planning, developing, organizing and coordinating the development and implementation of a provincial operational strategy for the Indigenous stream of the TMHS. You will contribute to the achievement of the TMHS mission to enhance care and community capacity in children's mental health using videoconferencing and other technologies to provide timely, equitable access to bilingual (English and French) specialist services. Ensuring that the TMHS is of excellent quality by functioning as a resource in stakeholder engagement and strategy development in four key areas for the province: service quality, process improvement, provincial coordination and outreach. This role will create partnerships with the Indigenous Coordination Agencies and the communities across the province to ensure a coordinated, consistent, provincial approach to program and service delivery, communication, education, and evaluation plans and serve as the communication voice to the leadership teams. This role will support the care delivery, design and growth of the TMHS with the Indigenous communities and people across the province and help us to improve the program offerings and model through consultation and feedback.
**What you will get to do**:
- Liaise, consult and identify service gaps between the TMHS and the local communities that we serve
- Support the development of and delivery of mental health care from the TMHS consultants to the local communities
- Identify and communicate opportunities and barriers that are present in the current structure and provide leadership in the development of new and innovative ways to provide mental health care to the Indigenous communities across the province.
- Partner with local communities across the province (travel will be required) to understand the current program offerings and the systemic and cultural barriers that are present that are limiting the usage or effectiveness of the current TMHS model
**Skills or Experience Required**:
- This position requires lived experience. The incumbent must be First Nations, Inuit or Métis.
- Strong knowledge of the history and enduring presence of Indigenous Peoples (First Nations, Inuit, and Métis) in Canada and the ongoing impacts of colonial legislations such as The Indian Act on Indigenous people and communities.
- Strong knowledge of a diversity of Indigenous approaches and perspectives on health, healing and wellness.
- Knowledge of Indigenous organizations and community resources.
- Three years of experience in healthcare or the social services sectors, experience in Mental Health Agency an asset
- Experience in strategy and program development, implementation, and oversight, preferred
- Familiarity with system navigation models and principles, an asset
- Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
- Superior interpersonal, collaboration, facilitation, and negotiation skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Willingness to participate in ongoing cultural learning and traditional teachings
- Willingness to travel to remote communities and areas of the province including SickKids in Toronto
**Education**:
- An undergraduate degree in business administration, public policy, community development, social work, public health, Indigenous studies, or other relevant discipline is required.
**Employment Type**: Permanent, Full Time, 1.0 FTE
**NOTE**: This position is a remote position, on site work at SickKids will be required occasionally as well as travel to other areas of the province as needed
