**Job Description**:

The Research Facilitator works across the organization to cultivate and facilitate a range of research and knowledge translation activities. The Research Facilitator is an advocate and active role model for scholarly practice and promoting a culture of inquiry throughout the organization, raising the reach of and engagement in research, evidence-informed practice/decision-making, and knowledge translation across Island Health.

The Research Facilitator serves Island Health broadly by supporting individuals and teams, within and across Island Health, through the provision of mentorship, guidance, support, and expertise in research and research-related activities and functions as a liaison to the research community locally, provincially and nationally. The Research Facilitator is responsible for providing technical and strategic guidance to research-related (funded and unfunded) activities; promoting collaborative research partnerships; and working with provincial research funders, Island Health Directors and Executive Directors across program areas and regions, and other Health Authorities to capitalize on opportunities for new research funding, capacity-building and knowledge translation.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master's Degree in a health related field, and five (5) years' experience working within or directly with a health care system preferably including experience in conducting collaborative health services research, and knowledge translation and exchange.

**Skills And Abilities**:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with people in all levels of health care, community, government and academia.
- An understanding of the historical impacts of colonialism, cultural safety and humility training commitment to continuous learning to support indigenous community-led research.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Tri-Council Policy Statement 2 (TCPS2) and the rules, regulations and guidelines that govern the conduct of research.
- Strong research and analytic skills, understanding of a broad range of health research activities/environments.
- Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare research, research methods, health research priorities, and current healthcare issues.
- Proven facilitation and negotiation/team formation skills.
- Strength in fostering and developing partnerships, including the ability to adapt messaging towards different audiences, communicating with sensitivity and tact, managing conflicting priorities, and negotiating difficult situations as needed.
- Well-developed and confident public speaking ability
- Ability to prioritize competing demands to meet deadlines.
- Ability to effectively support and collaborate with Health Authority staff and university research faculty.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team, to take initiative to promote research activities.
- Applies exceptional problem-solving abilities to independently resolve issues both efficiently and resourcefully.
- Practices diligence and care when maintaining, monitoring, calculating, and summarizing data, records and confidential information.
- Demonstrated project management and research skills including the ability to initiate, plan and complete research projects with individual clinicians and teams.
- Competent Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint and Outlook skills, experience with database platforms such as REDCap is an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the research funding environment and ability to support the management of research grants.
