Reporting to the Manager, Research Finance, the incumbent is responsible for providing support to the Research Finance team, specifically for project-based employment contracts. The incumbent is responsible for working with the Generator Support Office to support researchers in hiring (mainly) student research assistants, ensuring hiring paperwork is accurately completed, facilitating the accurate and timely submission of payroll-related information including use of Work Study funding, ensuring completion of mandatory training elements, documenting reconciliation and filing, as well as other general administrative support for the Generator Support Office.

**What You’ll Be Doing**
- Supporting faculty and Research Centre research PIs in the hiring process for part-time/temporary project-based hiring, including supporting in development of job postings, coordination and completion of hiring paperwork with new hires, ensuring activation of new hires with HR systems;
- Preparing payroll documents accurately and reviewing financial documents created by Sheridan Faculties for compliance with established Research funding budgets;
- Working closely with the Research Finance team to calculate estimated value of contracts, ensure funding is within project budgets;
- Ensuring payroll and supporting documentation is completed and filed accurately for future audits as per the Generator Support Office process guidelines;
- Preparing and reviewing project-based expense claims for accuracy and eligibility within research grants funding guidelines;
- Reconciling and verifying use of Work Study funding each semester
- Working within time constraints of the bi-weekly Payroll processing periods;
- Communicating and track mandatory training requirements for all new hires and provide support to ensure timely completion;
- Organizing relevant data in Excel for tracking, reporting and reconciliation purposes;
- Performing other related duties as assigned.

- 2-year diploma in Human Resources Management, Business Admin, or a related field along with a minimum of 2 years of experience working in an HR, finance or similar environment (or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience);
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook required;
- Knowledge and experience with human resource and related mathematical calculations considered an asset;
- Ability to problem-solve, troubleshoot issues and manage time effectively is an asset;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, developed interpersonal and organizational skills required;
- Must be professional, able to maintain confidentiality and thrive in a fast -paced team environment.
