**Canadian National Railway Company (CN) is looking for a highly motivated person to fulfill a full-time (40h/week) Intern, Traffic Management Systems in Montreal, QC or Edmonton, AB for summer 2023 (May - August).**

Job Summary

The intern, Traffic Management Systems is responsible for documenting the Electronic Data Exchange (EDI) process used between railroads to share train consist and crew information when they operate over each other’s track (EDI161 - Train Sheet). The Intern, Traffic Management Systems is responsible for reviewing the list of direct commands available to CN Operations in the Service Reliability Strategy (SRS) system, for describing what the command is used for, which positions at CN should have access to the command and to explore the possibility of creating new access security groups.

Major Responsibilities

Create a Standardized Document for Train Sheet (EDI161) process
- Work with TMS Technical and Business to understand Base and Active Train Schedules including Stations, Routes, and various Indicators.
- Work with TMS Technical and Business to understand the importance of SRS Train Sheet (EDI161) process for railroad interoperability.
- Work with EDI161 TMS and IT SME’s to understand existing Train Sheet (EDI161) entries in SRS table.
- Draft and publish a standardized document accessible to TMS/Service Design explaining how to setup EDI161 Tables for Foreign Trains operating on CN lines for all possible scenarios.
- Draft and publish a standardized document accessible to TMS/Service Design explaining how to setup Tables for CN Trains operating on Foreign lines for all possible scenarios.
- Meet and review weekly progress with TMS Manager and TMS SME.

Create a Standardized document for SRS Command Access
- Review the list of SRS direct commands.
- Work with TMS (Traffic Management Systems) Technical and Business to determine what the command is used for.
- Work with TMS (Traffic Management Systems) Technical and Business to determine which position should have access to the command.
- Collaborate with various department as required e.g., Transportation Reporting Services (TRS), Customer Services Center (CSC) and Mechanical, to determine the above.
- Work with IAM (Identification Access Management) to understand how the security works.
- Explore the possibility of creating new access security groups to reduce the workload required during the annual approval process by the Senior Manager - Traffic Management Systems.
- Meet and review weekly progress with TMS Manager and SME.

Education
- Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science.
- Any experience/education/skills/knowledge for these above would be considered as an asset
