**COORDINATOR**
**(Ottawa, Ont.)** Wheelchair Basketball Canada (WBC) is seeking a dynamic, passionate and detail-oriented professional with strong communication and interpersonal skills to join our team as Marketing and Special Events Coordinator. The role is suited for an energetic team player with core competencies in the delivery of results, relationship building, strategic thinking, communication and initiative. A background in corporate event activations, fundraising and marketing with a passion for sports is a must.
The Marketing and Special Events Coordinator position requires the ability to organize, plan and deliver industry-leading initiatives and events. Working closely with other staff and WBC members, the position functions as a key team member while possessing the ability to work independently to advance projects.
**Responsibilities**
**General**
- Assist with the development and implementation of marketing and fund development plans that focus on strategic corporate partnerships, donor programs, grants, and marketing events;
- Contribute to content development and campaign management for the organization’s marketing and fund development strategy;
- Provide support in implementing WBC’s domestic and international hosting strategy leading up to the 2026 IWBF World Championships to be held in Ottawa;
- Adhere to assigned project budget and provide final report;
- Provide support to Senior staff in Marketing and Communications, Domestic Operations and Worlds 2026 depts;

**Marketing**
- Participate in planning, implementing, and evaluating marketing strategies and plans aligned with WBC’s strategic plan;
- Responsible for overseeing marketing collateral and asset development, including design, production and printing;
- Analyze and report on event marketing campaign results and provide recommendations to key stakeholders;
- Assist with planning, delivery, and marketing of WBC events, including Hoopfest (annual fundraiser), Team Canada Feature Games, other international and domestic tournaments, fundraisers and special events.
**Partnerships**
- Support the Partnership Lead in the development and implementation of WBC’s Sponsorship strategy;
- Ensure brand standards of WBC, its partners, and corporate sponsors are accurately reflected in all marketing and communication activations;
- Prioritize and foster strong relationships with partners and donors, including recognition, stewardship, and relevant ongoing communications;
- Assist with identifying, attracting, cultivating, and retaining prospective strategic corporate partners, donors, and other key stakeholders to leverage mutually beneficial opportunities.
**Fundraising**
- Coordinate existing telephone, online, and direct mail fundraising efforts;
- Coordinate merchandise promotions and sales through the online store and at events;
- Develop funding support materials and coordinate production and distribution of resources as necessary.
**Events**
- Organize and assist with event logistics, including run of show, promotions, community outreach, game presentation and fan experience for WBC events;

**Additional Responsibilities**
- The Marketing and Special Events Coordinator shall also undertake other tasks, activities and responsibilities as he/she deems to be appropriate to fulfill the responsibilities of the position and as agreed to by the Executive Director;
- All employees must be aware that as an employee of WBC, he/she is an ambassador of the organization to the WBC membership and to the national and international sport community and must represent the organization professionally and appropriately.
**Qualifications**
- University or College Sports Marketing graduate or related field;
- Event Management experience;
- Solid business background with knowledge of marketing and fund development principles;
- Experience with donor programs and grant writing preferred;
- Exceptional writing, communication and analytical skills;
- Creative and strategic ideation and innovation;
- Strong decision-making and critical thinking skills;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills is essential;
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with MS Office and working with digital tools;
- Graphic design capabilities are considered an asset;
- Flexibility, initiative and self-motivated;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Ability to take direction and multi-task in a fast-paced environment;
- Oral/written fluency in both official languages is considered an asset;
