**Job Description**:
Great-West Lifeco (“Lifeco”) is an international financial service holding company with interests in life insurance, health insurance, wealth and asset management, and reinsurance businesses. Lifeco operates in Canada, the United States and Europe under the brands Canada Life, Empower, Putnam Investments, and Irish Life.

The Strategy team plays a key role in helping Lifeco grow and create meaningful value for its stakeholders in an increasingly uncertain and complex environment. By working across Lifeco and its businesses, the team helps senior leaders and executives address some of Lifeco’s most critical strategic questions and priorities.

The Strategy team is a group of talented people from diverse backgrounds, with experience in global management consulting, professional services, corporate strategy, and other roles at large multinational corporations. This role reports to the Vice-President, Strategy.

**What you will do**

**Supporting development of enterprise-wide and business strategy**:

- ** Support the enterprise-wide long-term strategy development process** which engages the senior leadership team and the Lifeco Board in an annual strategy review, including:

- Macro environment, external trends, and internal business assessment
- Scenario analysis and implications for our business performance
- Portfolio and business unit review, financial modeling and framing strategic options
- ** Support or lead business unit strategy development**:work closely with the business units, supporting selected strategic initiatives and ensuring alignment with the enterprise-wide vision and strategy

**Delivering effectively in a collaborative environment**: Own project workstreams and ensure a high level of quality in all required analyses (both your own analysis and overseeing other team member’s analysis) and presentations; leading your own workstreams and managing junior team members on larger projects; leading with an ownership mindset while working and collaborating in a great learning environment with Strategy team members, business executives and their teams. Identifying key questions and developing analysis and workplans to manage project team efforts. Support and liaise with third party consultants engaged in strategic projects (where applicable).

**Advising and influencing business partners**:Establish relationships with key executives and senior leaders across Lifeco to support corporate and business unit strategic agenda development and execution. Develop options, assess benefits and trade-offs, and arrive at recommended courses of action. Tailoring written materials and verbal communications for target audience to encourage the right discussions and drive favourable outcomes.

**Supporting the wider Lifeco Strategy team**:Lean in where needed on Lifeco projects and priority work. Monitor the industry and external environmental factors, to identify/ anticipate opportunities or challenges for Lifeco. Support the professional development of the Strategy team, focusing on core analytical, strategy, and communications skills.

**What you will bring**
- Background from management consulting firm and/ or corporate strategy preferred with a minimum 3 years of progressively more senior experience
- Undergraduate degree in Business coupled with an MBA, or equivalent preferred (e.g., CFA); other comparable professional designations considered
- Strong business acumen, with demonstrated aptitude for strategic, analytical, and critical thinking
- Demonstrated leadership, influencing, and relationship building skills - including willingness to challenge current thinking, share new and innovative ideas, engage in productive debate with partners to achieve better outcomes
- Excellent analytical skills, including financial analysis, research, and complex modeling
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Expert in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
- Experience coaching and mentoring across the strategy toolkit, including analytics, strategic problem solving, compelling written and verbal communications
- Understanding of, or experience in, the life insurance, health insurance, wealth and asset management and/ or reinsurance industries is a bonus
