The Disabled Sailing Association of Alberta (DSAA) employs both year-round and summer staff (May/June - August/September). Our summer staff are typically College or University Students who love the outdoors and working with people. **Desirable Skills**:Must be a team player, with excellent planning and organizing abilities. Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently. Will be required to ensure sailing companions and volunteers are qualified. Will coordinate activities, be safety minded, follow procedures, have a high energy level and be computer literate.

Our positions are partially funded through the Canada Summer Jobs Grant and if the eligibility criteria of the grant are met, it is a plus.
**Sailing experience is not required but would be valuable. Experience working with people with disabilities would be beneficial.**

**General Job Description**:The Program Coordinator, under the direction of the Business Manager and the DSAA Board oversees the day-to-day operation of recreational sailing programs for disabled children and adults, in Calgary. The Program Coordinator:

- Must be a team player, with excellent planning and organization.
- Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently.
- Works collaboratively with other staff members and ensures a positive public image of contribution to the community.
- Will coordinate activities, be safety minded, follow procedures, and have a positive attitude.
- Ensures our fleet is in clean and presentable order and provides support and coordination for maintenance requirements.
- Able to be outside for long periods of time
- Experience working with people with disabilities would be considered beneficial.
- Sailing experience considered an asset.

**This position requires physical exertion on a daily basis and deals with mechanical equipment. Individuals are required to be in good health and fit, able and willing to deal with boats, trailers, and other equipment and be able to safely lift reasonable loads, including assisting people with transfers. DSAA values good judgment, awareness of disabilities, exceptional customer service, commitment to team-work, flexibility, initiative and the ability to work safely and independently. This position requires being outside on the dock or in the boatyard for long periods of time. Sometimes it may be required to accompany clients and a sailing companion on the boat.**

**Tasks and Responsibilities**:
▪ Ensure proper waivers and paperwork are filled out and filed
▪ Coordinating volunteers, tracking volunteer hours and maintaining records
▪ Rigging / de rigging (preparing) and boats
▪ Trailering boats and getting them into and out of the water via truck and trailer
▪ Cleaning and maintaining boats
▪ Assisting clients
▪ Being an environmental steward
▪ Contributing in events promoting DSAA
▪ Maintaining the DSAA contact list of community partner’s and individual members
▪ Making purchases for the club if required
▪ Ensuring safety procedures are followed
▪ Ensuring housekeeping
▪ Organizing and maintaining facility
▪ Assist in managing and updating Social Media accounts and creating new content
▪ Help plan and execute events for the DSAA

Competitive wages based on skillset and experience ($15 - $17/hr). Program start date is anticipated to be June 12th, however training would begin prior to the start date.
**Applicants will be required to have a valid class 5 Driver's License and undergo a Criminal Record Check.**

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 14-16 weeks
Part-time hours: 30 - 40 per week

**Salary**: $15.00-$16.00 per hour
