**Position**
Reporting to the Director, Operations (DO) the Manager, Distribution (MD) is responsible for optimizing procurement, inventory management, staffing, and contributing to business planning with the Regina Food Bank across our delivery channels. The MD will work closely with the warehouse manager to oversee storage, receiving, hamper creation, safe food handling, safety, sanitation and administrative functions. The MD will also be responsible for overseeing, training, evaluating and rewarding the staff team reporting to them. The MD will lead oversight and documentation of warehouse assets.
**Responsibilities**
**Procurement Optimization**:
- Provide leadership to the procurement group team to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of food and materials.
- Monitor supplier performance, negotiate contracts, grow pool of donated product and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions and supplier agreements.
- Engage with the local Indigenous communities to understand and integrate traditional food systems into our procurement processes.
**Inventory Management**:
- Implement and maintain efficient inventory control procedures, including stock rotation and order fulfillment.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to meet demand while minimizing excess stock.
- Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and reduce shrinkage.
Staffing and Resource Management:
- Oversee a team of warehouse staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Create and manage work schedules to ensure adequate coverage while controlling labor costs.
- Work collaboratively to create a welcoming and safe environment for volunteers.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes productivity and teamwork.
**Business Planning and Strategy**:
- Collaborate with senior management in the development and execution of distribution-related business strategies.
- Provide data-driven insights to support decision-making and identify areas for operational improvement.
- Contribute to the development of annual budgets and forecasts for the distribution department.
- Incorporate Indigenous perspectives and knowledge in the development of distribution strategies to ensure culturally sensitive and inclusive practices.
