Reporting to the Maintenance & Reliability Engineering Superintendent.

**What you will do**:

- Supervise and mentor a team of maintenance engineers
- Oversee and guide the development of engineering work products generated by the team
- Effectively communicate with a variety of groups to ensure collaboration across the plant site
- Own mechanical designs of plant changes through the MOC process
- Ensure the success of safety, reliability, integrity and ABSA regulatory compliance, for fixed equipment on site by ensuring that plant work scope fits the long-term vision
- Medium and long term planning, use and creation of design specifications, basic practice maintenance strategies, MOC ownership, project support, root cause analysis, bad actor elimination, and general improvements
- Prepare required design documentation for MOCs, support Turnarounds and plant outages and act as Subject Matter Expert for mechanical engineering
- Non-routine work engineering design ownership and project development support
- Analyze maintenance history and failure data to prioritize issues and opportunities
- Conduct equipment assessments during maintenance and inspection opportunities for repair quality, fitness for service, and life expectancy evaluation
- Specify pressure equipment repairs (registered and non-registered)
- Work with Site Trades Groups, Planners, Engineers, Inspectors, and Projects Groups
- Support department long-term maintenance plan and asset management goals

**What you will bring**:

- Mechanical Engineering degree with professional engineering designation registered with APEGA
- 10-15 years’ experience in an industrial setting with supervisory experience being an asset
- Demonstrated safety leadership skills
- Working knowledge in pressure vessel and piping codes (ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII, ASME Section I, ASME PCC-1, ASME PCC-2)
- High level of problem solving skills and critical thinking ability
- Self-starter with excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, and organizational skills
- Ability to handle a large and varied workload
- Strong Excel and data analysis skills
- Continuous improvement mindset resulting in the generation of cost savings to achieve best value of each dollar spent
- API-510/570/653 and ABSA In-Service Inspector certification would be considered an asset.
