**Summary**

The Manager of Technical Services is a key member of the Alleguard Technical / Engineering team who will help provide visionary leadership to shape, guide and implement the company’s technical agenda. Reporting to the Vice President Technical services, the Manager will advance the organization’s core capabilities in Energy efficient and sustainable building products.
- The Manager, Technical Services will be a thought leader who represents the company at the highest level.
- He/she will have worked in the construction of buildings in either a practical or administrative (Architect, Engineer, Designer, Specifier) or will have had a role in developing technical documents for products related to building construction.
- Familiarity with the various regulatory agencies governing building materials as well as exposure to building codes would ideally round out this person’s profile.
- Stays abreast of evolving building material technical priorities, and trends to position the company for continued growth and success.
- Executes technical vision and strategy to grow the company’s energy efficient and sustainable building products.

**Responsibilities**

**_ Building Codes and Testing_**
- Deep understanding and knowledge of current building code requirements on company products and related building materials for North America.
- Work with 3rd party Testing Laboratories to ensure company products meet or surpass building and energy code requirements.
- Develop and maintain technical bulletins related to building code and testing requirements.
- Ensure the Technical department has the core knowledge and competence to respond to questions and provide recommendations to Building Officials, testing laboratories, customers, and internal company departments, (Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, and Manufacturing)

**_Business Development_**

Oversee the development and maintenance in the following areas.
- Provide Technical information and digital tools for the professional community of Architects, Engineers, Designers and Specifiers.
- New product development tools and information, data sheets, installation guides, design manuals and other related materials to ensure the smooth introduction from a technical perspective.
- Best in class Technical Resource website presence.

**_Education and Training_**
- Development of industry leading Education and training programs on company products and facilitate the broadcast of these programs to a broad spectrum of users, contractors, professionals (architects, Engineers etc.) builders, property owners, building officials and homeowners.
- Development and maintenance of technical installation and design manuals.
- Recommend product modifications, improvements, changes to practices and procedures based on input from code changes, technical field issues, customer feedback, etc.
- Attending trade shows where necessary.
- If required conduct technical presentations to Architects and Engineers regarding Amvic products.
- Develop and maintain the company’s Quality Control manuals, ensuring up to date and compliant policies and procedures.
- Develop best practices to generate innovative thinking for industry leading technical resources in building material.

**Requirements**:

- Degree in Engineering, Building Science or Architecture
- Practical understanding of the building/construction industry. Experience working directly in construction, or a related trade is an asset.
- Familiarity with the technical specifications of construction materials is preferred.
- Experience in the writing of technical documents, instruction manuals and guides.
- Familiarity with the Canadian and United States Building Code
- Well organized with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and projects.
- Comfortable communicating in both the digital and traditional mediums.
- Strong relationship building skills - must be able to forge positive and productive relationships with internal stakeholders, customers, and regulatory agencies.
- Flexible and adaptable; will be willing to assist with or take on assignments outside of his/her defined role when required.
