**You are**

A _**Rehabilitation Assistant**_. You will report directly to the Clinical Specialist
- Intake Supervisor and is part of the Manitoba Wheelchair Program which provides and services wheelchairs as well as client support. The Rehabilitation Assistant is responsible for coordinating and scheduling appointments for in-person wheelchair trials with prescribers as well as maintaining a clean, organized, and stocked assessment area. The Rehabilitation Assistant supports the Clinical Specialist, Intake Supervisor in wheelchair inventory stock by maintaining new and used equipment supply and ensuring all necessary equipment is available for appointments. The Rehabilitation Assistant also provides client support during the appointments with transfers and lifts and assisting with equipment.

**Your Role**
- Receives and schedules wheelchair trial appointments for prescribers of wheelchair trials and assists with the setups as needed.
- Provides customer support by calling prescribers directly to address concerns and to compile feedback on services provided.
- Ensures the assessment area is organized, clean, free of any obstacles or barriers and wheelchair equipment and accessories are cleaned and sanitized.
- Maintains equipment and updates the inventory list of assessment/demo equipment for the assessment area. Responsible for ensuring return of all loaned equipment and proper loan forms are completed and notifies the Clinical Specialist, Intake Supervisor of any problems (i.e., repairs or replacement needed).
- Assists in the appointment with transfers from one mobility device to another as well as assist with client lift transfers as needed and with supervision of the prescriber.
- Provides education on proper use and maintenance of the equipment and may provide basic to advanced training for wheelchair skills under supervision/training of the Clinical Specialist, Intake Supervisor.
- Maintains positive working relationships with prescribers, internal service department, clients as well as Community prescribers.
- Tracks, analyses, and reports on demographic and service elements essential to meeting the needs of management, board, and funders.
- Monitors/reviews internal procedures and policies with respect to appointments, and trial equipment as well as the efficiency and effectiveness of service provision and program operations.
- Participates and assists as required in training and orientation sessions provided to prescribers and Clinical Specialist, Intake Supervisor.

**What You Know**
- Successful completion of a recognized academic Rehabilitation Assistant Program (such as but not limited to the Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology Rehabilitation Assistant Program) required.
- Medical terminology knowledge required.
- Experience working in client care in a clinical setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Lived experience with physical disabilities an asset.
- Proficient in MS Office and customized databases.
- Customer service experience and ability to demonstrate empathy, compassion, and patience when working with clients.
- Scheduling and office administrative training or experience an asset.
- Rehabilitation assistants need the physical strength, dexterity, and endurance to move, transfer and position clients as necessary during assessments.
- Current C.P.R. (Family and Friends) preferred.
- Bilingual (French/English) preferred.
- American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of Deaf culture an asset.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $19.59-$23.41 per hour

Expected hours: 18 per week
