Job Title: Rehabilitation Assistant

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Rehabilitation Assistant to join our team at Victoria General Hospital. As a key member of our Therapeutic Services department, you will provide direct and indirect patient care activities, working closely with our Therapists to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care activities, including assisting with daily living tasks and promoting independence
  • Assist with non-patient care activities, such as maintaining a clean and safe environment and performing administrative tasks
  • Work collaboratively with our Therapists to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care

Requirements:

  • High school education, Manitoba standards
  • Successful completion of a recognized academic Rehabilitation Assistant Program
  • Previous direct patient care experience in a healthcare setting (an asset)
  • Proficient in both oral and written English communication
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with people in a variety of settings
  • Computer literacy as appropriate to the setting
  • Basic computer skills required

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk or sit for extended periods of time without resting
  • Ability to demonstrate safe and effective body mechanics while working with patients
  • Ability to bend, stretch and lift while performing patient care and non-patient care duties
  • Ability to safely transfer large and/or heavy patients who may have limited or no weight bearing capabilities
  • Ability to demonstrate adequate strength, motor coordination, agility and dexterity for implementation of therapeutic techniques
