Brampton, Canada The Salvation Army Full time

The purpose of the Business Manager is to coordinate and oversee all financial matters for the Ministry unit.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**ACCOUNTABILITIES**:

- Analysis of the Monthly Financial Statements by reviewing all financial records
- Prepares variance reports and forecasts
- Tracks overflow costs and prepares invoices for payment
- Budget Preparation, working with each management team to determine budget assumptions, meeting the designated deadlines, presenting budget to each management team****:

- Liaise with government funds to understand new direction and opportunities for ministry
- Liaise with RAC and auditors for smooth operations, year-end adjustments and to correct major concerns
- Prepare business cases as required for union negotiations, program opportunities or proposals
- Look for economies and saving opportunities for each ministry unit
- Prepare finance reports for community councils, as required

**Administration Responsibilities**
- Member of the management team
- Be accessible to the ED and other management team members on site and by other communication methods

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS**:

- Graduate of post-secondary program in business administration or finance (e.g. CA, CMA, CGA)
- Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.

**EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE**:

- Minimum of three years’ experience in a senior accounting role
- Familiarity with non-profit, fund and branch accounting; purchasing procedures, property maintenance issues; and information systems issues and processes
- Demonstrated experience in working effectively with a variety of professionals, community groups, businesses and volunteers
- Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License, personal vehicle required and insurance, current copy of driver’s abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required as travel within GTA will be required

**SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES**:

- Outstanding analytical skills and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening
- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities
