**Ojibiikaan Indigenous Cultural Network** (OICN): Our mandate is to strengthen Indigenous roots in Toronto, the GTA and surrounding First Nations communities through knowledge exchange and land-based food projects.

**Ojiibikens** (Little Roots) is a Early Years program developed, designed, and delivered by Ojibiikaan Indigenous Cultural Network (OICN) an Indigenous led not-for-profit in Toronto. The staff of the Ojiibikens program deliver virtual and mobile cultural and land-based activities for Indigenous children and their families in Toronto. This program is funded through the **City of Toronto **by the **Government of Ontario Journey Together** strategy for reconciliation.

**Role Summary**

Reporting to the Cultural Team Coordinator and working collaboratively with the Ojiibikens team, the Mobile Culture Coordinator designs and facilitates regular mobile land-based programming for children and their families across Toronto within Ojiibikens’ mandate.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Coordinate and deliver regular mobile land-based programming in support of Ojiibikens’ mandate through management of timelines, budgets and deliverables;
- Design, schedule and plan logistics for engaging, hands-on, and culturally relevant drop in and registered activities, responding to the varying needs of families;
- Purchase food and supplies as needed for programming;
- Maintain activity spaces and ensure the environment is clean and safe for children - Support and work with partner agencies to deliver collaborative programming;
- Assist the other Ojibiikens Coordinators in program design, facilitating workshops and hosting community events;
- Document weekly activities, prepare reports and collaborate on the implementation of donor reporting by tracking relevant information;
- Assist with the coordination, implementation, and tracking of project evaluation tools such as outcome measurement, frameworks, surveys and participant evaluation forms;

**Education and Experience**
- Education: Registered Early Childhood Educator “RECE” preferred or a Post-secondary degree or diploma in social work or other related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be able to demonstrate an established connection to the local Indigenous community.
- Recognition by the Indigenous communities and ability to demonstrate learnings from own journey and teachings received
- In-depth understanding of cultural protocols
- 1-3 years of experience working in a social services or childcare environment;
- Minimum 1-year experience delivering family services to the Indigenous community is preferred
- Experience in working with Indigenous children, youth and families in an urban setting
- Experience in outreach, facilitating workshops and delivering presentations.
- Experience in working with Indigenous children, youth and families in an urban setting
- Active member in traditional healing would be an asset
- Experience working with Indigenous food systems, planting techniques, traditional ecological knowledge, and/or hands-on gardening is an asset

**Cultural Connection**
- Must be able to demonstrate an established connection to the local Indigenous community.
- Recognition by the Indigenous communities and ability to demonstrate cultural teachings.
- In-depth understanding of cultural protocols
- Knowledge of the 7 Grandfathers with reference to confidentiality and privacy.
- Comply with the shared values and standards of cultural customs, traditions, practices, and codes of ethics for ensuring a culturally safe environment.
- Knowledge of Indigenous spirituality and cultural identity for ensuring these are the core guiding values of the organization.
- Willing to learn Anishinaabemowin, Métis, or Inuit language

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
- Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, values, and traditional practices
- Knowledge of a First Nations, Métis, or Inuit language, or willingness to learn.
- Commitment to fostering a positive community atmosphere.
- Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
- Ability to self-motivate, work independently and delegate tasks.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to perform moderate physical labor, lift up to 40lbs and work on feet and outdoors.
- Ability to travel as required, valid G-Class Driver’s License in good standing is an asset.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Ability to use computers for word processing, publication, data collection, e‐mail and** **internet.

This is a full-time contract position based in Toronto from April 3, 2023 to April 3, 2024 with the possibility of extension. This position requires some local travel and some evening and weekend hours to attend meetings, special events and fulfill other responsibilities. The salary ranges from $50,960 to $55,000 dependin
