Corporate Safety Officer

**Responsibilities**
- Conduct weekly site inspection visits and issue inspection reports
- Support site supervision in the implementation and management of the company Safety Program on-site.
- Act as a safety resource to the Project Team and all workers on site by providing correct interpretation of the companies Safety Program policies and procedures, all applicable government regulations, and any client-specific safety requirements.
- Facilitate Monthly Health & Safety Committee Meetings
- Support the development of OHS policies and programs
- Responsible for ensuring OHS and site-specific safety management plans are in place
- Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics
- Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures
- Review existing OHS Manual and update according to legislation
- Initiate and organize OHS training of employees as required
- Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker’s compensation claims
- Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management
- Hold Quarterly Management Safety Meetings.
- Set an exceptional safety example

**Requirements**:

- Proven experience as safety officer
- CSO Certification required
- Have a minimum 5-year experience in commercial and multi residential construction projects
- Proven ability
- In depth knowledge of legislation (e.g., WorkSafeBC) and procedures
- Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
- Proficient in MS Office; Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Diligent with great attention to detail
- Energetic, self-motivated, creative, and especially positive outlook.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics
- Certificate in occupational health and safety
- Valid driver licence and reliable vehicle

Licence:

- OFA 2 (preferred)
- OFA 3 (preferred)

**Salary**: $40.00-$50.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week

**Benefits**:
