**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**

Withdrawal Management Workers provide compassionate care to individuals withdrawing from alcohol and/or drugs. You are part of a collaborative team that ensures client safety and comfort at this early stage of their recovery. You monitor client withdrawal symptoms, administer medication as prescribed, support brief service plans and discharge plans, facilitate psychoeducational groups, and assist with connection to ongoing service and supports. You make a difference

Kay responsibilities of a Withdrawal Management Worker include:

- Conduct telephone screening of clients prior to withdrawal management admission
- Support client intake into the program
- Monitor withdrawal symptoms, administer and document client medications, and alert medical professionals to any issues which impact client’s safe withdrawal
- Support implementation of client safety, support and/or transition plans
- Deliver brief, solution-focused interventions
- Provide individual or group psychoeducation to enhance client motivation to change and support their recovery
- Confidently redirect client behaviour when required, to ensure a physically and emotionally safe space for all
- Be responsive and compassionate to clients within the program
- Support safe and effective facility functioning through light cleaning and meal preparation

Hours of work: Rotating days/afternoons/nights

Monday to Thursday. 7 am-4 pm

Sunday to Wednesday, 4 pm-1 am

Sunday to Thursday, 12 am-8 am

Training: Initial comprehensive training related to all aspects of the role, as well as access to ongoing professional development

**COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS**

Hourly wage: Starting at $22.25 per hour plus a $1 per hour shift premium for any overnight or weekend shifts. Starting salary commensurate with experience.

**REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS**
- Have a college diploma or certificate in the Human/Social Services field (i.e., Personal Support Worker, Social Service Worker, Human Service Worker, Addiction Worker)
- Have a minimum of 1-year combined education/experience in substance use, concurrent disorders and/or mental health settings, with residential experience preferred (recent experience in management of withdrawal from substances is preferred)
- Be proficient in MS Office and be familiar with databases
- Have access to reliable transportation
- Be able to manage frequent exposure to vicarious traumatic stress
- Proof of vaccination against COVID-19
