**The Training Video Production Specialist’s Role**

In response to the Emergency Management Project (EMP) funded by the Government of Canada (Public Safety Canada), St. John Ambulance is seeking a talented Training Video Production Specialist for a three-year term until March 31, 2026. The EMP is a new initiative and focuses on the design and development of various training materials to enhance St. John Ambulance’s capability to respond to emergencies and disasters across Canada with our Community Services volunteers.

This position requires an intermediate to senior proficiency in the video production lifecycle from concept and script development, talent acquisition, video production management, video editing and compression and localization. You will collaborate with a local video production company throughout the design lifecycle who will conduct the video shoot and edit the raw footage. You will be on-site during the live video shoots in various environmental and climate conditions.

You are a video software wizard and are proficient with Adobe Premier and the Adobe Creative Suite as well as other video editing technologies that you recommend to the project. You are creative and have an eye for detail in conceptualizing first aid scenarios in collaboration with SJA first aid training specialists. You have a flair for writing creative, clear, concise and technically accurate scripts and training content. You are an excellent and diplomatic communicator and are highly organized to manage multiple video productions efficiently in collaboration with the local production company.

**Primary Responsibilities**:
As a Training Video Production Specialist you will:

- Plan, design, develop, implement and evaluate video training content to support learning objectives for instructor-led, online (e-learning) and blended training programs for adult learners.
- Evolve and modernize SJA video training assets to continuously improve the learning experience (e.g., just-in-time, micro-learning video assets).
- Lead the design of a standardized video ‘look and feel’ to maintain the integrity of St. John Ambulance’s brand and visual styles and adhere to asset licensing and copyright regulations.
- Develop a video style guide.
- Develop video assets that adhere to the principles of inclusive and accessible design, that appeal to a diversity of learners and W3C standards.
- Design and develop program promotional and marketing materials as needed.
- Proactively identify efficiencies, gaps and opportunities in our design processes and implement or troubleshoot using relevant tools and resources. Advise on new technologies to improve quality and efficiency. Research and implement current and effective video learning development approaches and strategies.
- Practice exceptional data hygiene and security for files pertaining to creative and visual projects including shared files, storage and backups.
- Be flexible and adaptable in supporting with additional projects tasks as required such as general technical writing, editing/proofreading and migrating/formatting content in various e-learning and publishing software.

**Qualifications**:
As a Training Video Production Specialist, you will have:

- A post-secondary diploma or degree with a concentration in New Media, Education Technologies, Communications or a related discipline.
- A minimum of three years of experience designing, producing, testing and launching video content, ideally for training programs adhering to adult learning principals and that adhere to W3C and accessibility standards.
- Expert proficiency with Adobe Premier, Adobe Creative Suite and the Microsoft Office Suite. (SJA uses Microsoft Teams as our collaboration platform.)
- A minimum of two years of demonstrated project management experience with the ability to manage multiple video production projects simultaneously.
