**Job Description**:

**Position Summary**:
As a key member of our Inpatient Surgery Department, the successful incumbent will support a variety of stakeholders including nurses and physicians. This role is responsible for a broad range of clerical functions including order entry into Meditech, arranging transportation for patients, managing telephone calls, record keeping, photocopying and faxing. The Clerical Associate must maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
This is position will work rotating shifts - days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
**Skills and Qualifications**:
- Medical Office Administration program certificate required
- Medical Terminology certificate required
- Current experience in a health care environment preferred
- Two (2) years of current administrative support required
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) required
- Excellent keyboarding skills and Microsoft office experience (Word, Excel) required
- Excellent interpersonal skills essential
- Previous experience with Meditech system modules including order entry, and admissions preferred
- Previous recent experience in a health care environment preferred- The successful external applicant is required to provide the applicable criminal record check, as requested by Human Resources, in accordance with federal and provincial legislation.
