**GENERAL DESCRIPTION**

The Junction Creek Stewardship Committee (JCSC) is an environmental non-profit organization in Greater Sudbury (N’Swakamok) dedicated to the health and revival of the Junction Creek watershed. As a non-profit organization, the JCSC relies on sustainable funding and community partnership to successfully develop and deliver environmental restoration and stewardship activities, long-term stream monitoring and research projects, and educational programs.

The JCSC is seeking a reliable and self-motivated individual to fill the position of _Fundraising and Communication Planner _and develop adaptable fundraising and communication strategies for the sustainable operations of the organization while fostering community relationships.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

The _Fundraising and Communication Planner _will develop explicit, adapted, and complementary fundraising and communication plans to build more sustainable operational strategies, community engagement, and financial security for the JCSC. These plans will include directions for reaching a broader audience, diversifying donation streams, and exploring novel approaches to help the JCSC adapt to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and build resiliency to overcome future challenges over the long term. They will work alongside the JCSC team under the supervision of the Executive Director and collaborate with community partners and stakeholders. This position offers a unique opportunity to network and create a positive impact.

**Specific duties will include**:

- Developing a paired communication and fundraising plan tailored to the JCSC within the context of the local community. The plans will enunciate the target audiences/donors and provide strategies to reach each distinct group.
- Conducting detailed gap analysis of potential target audiences.
- Developing relationship building strategy with targets and community partners, through a lens of truth and reconciliation.
- Determining best communications and engagement strategies, centering diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Creating marketing materials with fundraising ideas/events.
- Identifying training and resources for staff and Board to pursue to align with communications strategies.
- Providing frequent progress updates and reports.
- Presenting results to the Board, city council, community groups, and other stakeholders.
- Assisting with communications and marketing, such as website, social media platforms, newsletters, articles, and media releases.
- Assisting with other Junction Creek programs and activities as opportunities arise.

**ASSET SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in marketing, communication, business, fundraising, or other related fields.
- Knowledge of the operations of non-profit organizations and financial planning.
- Experience planning and executing fundraising in various forms (i.e., events, campaigns, donations, etc.).
- Familiarity with Sudbury an asset and ability to network in the Sudbury area.
- Organized and resourceful with a demonstrated ability to time-manage and appropriately prioritize projects.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with little to no supervision at times.
- Personable, with good interpersonal skills, oral communication skills, a positive attitude, and able to work within a team environment.
- Detail-oriented and ability to follow instructions.
- Excellent written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to write detailed and well-organized reports related to communication and fundraising.
- Bilingual, with oral and written fluency in French an asset.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Microsoft Teams.
- Able to work occasional weekends and weekday evenings.
- Working within the Sudbury district is an asset; however, we are open to accommodating remote work with the condition of having reliable access to internet, being within a similar time-zone, and being readily reached during scheduled working hours.
- Able to obtain a Police Record check.
