**Position**: **Sales & Catering Manager**

**Reports to: Director of Sales & Marketing**

**Scope**:
Responsible to solicit and promote catering functions of the hotel while maximizing profits from food and beverage revenues and meeting room rentals. Provide service to small groups and larger events, as well as keep up relationships with repeat accounts. All are to be completed in accordance with the overall hotel strategic plan.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Develops short-term tactics and long-range strategic plans and programs for soliciting new catering businesses from either existing clients or new prospective clients.
- Negotiates meeting room rental, function space, guest room rates, and hotel services within approved guidelines.
- A valid driver’s license is required for traveling purposes

**Relationships**:
Internal: All hotel departments: Communicate client expectations with the Crowne Meetings Director in an effort to coordinate the delivery of services to the guest. Sales Staff: Share leads/referrals.

External: Guests: To provide courteous and efficient service while selling.

Vendors: Supervision/Contracts for goods/services.

Competitors: Monitor and Analyze competitors and business conditions to develop marketing strategies.

**Qualifications**:
Education: Post-secondary Education in Hotel Management or Business Administration,

Experience: A minimum of two years in sales and marketing including one year of hotel event/banquet service experience is preferred.

Certification and/or License Requirement: Alcohol awareness certification as required by local or state government agency.

**Skills**:

- Interpersonal and decision-making skills.
- Sales and negotiating abilities.
- Prospecting.
- Strong written and oral communication.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel and other software.
- Knowledge of Property Management Systems, such as Opera, STS Cloud, and Delphi.
- Planning and organizational ability with attention to detail.
- Food & Beverage knowledge is a plus.

**Working Conditions**:

- Will be required on occasion to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Will be required to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment.

**Sales & Catering Manager**

The Sales & Catering Manager will focus on selling and negotiating catering and banquet services, therefore a significant portion of time is spent speaking, listening, thinking, reasoning, and writing. Mathematical skills, including basic math, problem-solving, forecasting, profit/ loss concepts, variances, and percentages are often used. Supervisory and management activities are ongoing.

Some travel is necessary in order to meet potential clients and to attend conventions and trade shows.
- Contributes to the overall vision, mission, values, strategic goals, initiatives, and objectives, approaching all activities by promoting excellence in all pursuits.
- Manages the sales efforts for the property including local corporate and social catering.
- Understands the overall market - competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply, and demand, etc. and knows how to sell against them.
- Assists with site visits, sales blitz, trade shows, and client relations.
- Closes the best opportunities for the property based on market conditions and property needs.
- Uses negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close on business and negotiate contracts.
- Works with the management team to create and implement a catering sales plan addressing revenue, customers, and market.
- Assists with selling, implementation, and follow-through of catering promotions.
- Establishes that the property implements a seamless turnover from sales to operations and back to sales while consistently delivering a high level of service.
- Achieves catering revenue goals by actively up-selling each business opportunity to maximize revenue.
- Gains understanding of the property’s primary target customer and service expectations; serves the customer by understanding their business, business issues, and concerns, to offer better business solutions both prior to, and during the program/event.
- Special projects may include developing prospect lists, coordination of blitzes and client events as well as advertising and promotional collateral coordination.
- Responds quickly to internal and external inquiries in a friendly and efficient manner.
- Maintains a professional image at all times through appearance and dress code.
- Understands, and abides by company policies and procedures.
- Participates in regular sales meetings
