**What the day will look like**

**Pension Knowledge**:

- Reviewing of manual pension calculations
- Periodic reviewing of PAs, PARs, Annual Statements etc.
- Educate associates and clients

**Client Relationship Management**:

- Support client or service transitions, gaining an understanding of processes and documentation.
- Communicate effectively with the client and internal partners for analysis/resolution.
- Participate in meetings to discuss issues identified and impact on service delivery.
- Lead client interaction and facilitation on client touchpoints.

**Project Management**:

- Create detailed functional business requirement specifications and ensures proper testing hand-offs for integration testing.
- Monitor the scope throughout the project and ensure it is baselined, and that any changes requested are evaluated for project impact and business need for projects.
- Identify downstream processes and impacts for projects.
- Provide status reports and communicate process changes for project assignments.
- Assist in post-project Quality Assurance (QA) and knowledge management.
- Responsible for estimating, scheduling and directing all project-related work activities.

**Ongoing Management**:

- Work with third-party providers (both Aon partners and client partners) to ensure seamless process delivery.
- Lead operational improvements for existing processes and support creation of new processes with emphasis on up/down stream impacts.
- Identify issues; motivate change for related improvements
- Distinguish and resolve customer concerns or complex issues with strong emphasis to associated patterns, trends, and root cause analysis.
- Responsible for meeting aligned SLAs.
- Guide and support client delivery for new and existing associates.
- People management of associates
- Identify when inquiries are beyond the scope of responsibilities of Aon and/or team and raise as appropriate.
- Support the internal and external Change Request process, including scoping and costing.
- Responsible for team audits and training; support formal internal and external audits.
- Assist with documentation and lead or support maintenance of release notes/training.
- Support and provide investigation on regulatory and compliance issues and ensure reporting of same to management.
- Develop and refine process execution.

**How this opportunity is different**

The Defined Benefits Pension Consultant supports ongoing delivery for pension administration through issue resolution, change requests, and standardized processes that help to achieve Service Levels (SLAs). This position involves regular client interaction, vendor management as well as coaching and mentoring of staff. The consultant could be involved in leading projects and Change Requests. In this role, you will identify and resolve issues through root cause analysis and then implement solutions. This role will lead and sponsor process creation, improvement initiatives and changes. As a consultant on the team, you may work across multiple areas with implementation managers, Service Delivery Managers, finance leads and other associates

**Skills and experience that will lead to success**
- Minimum of 3-5 years working with Defined Benefit pension plans preferred;
- Preferred education in Math, Statistics, Actuarial Sciences and Finance;
- Previous work experience in reviewing calculations and yearend tasks (PAs, Indexation, Annual Statements, etc.);
- Solid knowledge of related provincial and federal pension legislation and Income Tax Act provisions;
- Strong client and vendor communication and leadership skills;
- Experience with project/implementation work;
- Good oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a team environment;
- Ability to identify and close gaps in processes and procedures within and across practices;
- Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Access and Word;
- Experience with pension administration systems, strong spreadsheet competencies and math proficiency required;
- Thorough with sound pension administration and organizational skills; and
- Other assets include fluency in French, a relevant degree and the completion of CEBS, PPAC, CHRP or actuarial courses.
