The ministry has been developed through the amalgamation of legislative authorities in land and resource agencies to provide clients with a single point of access to natural resource authorizations and resource management services at many locations across the province. The ministry is structured in eight regions under the leadership of three geographically based Assistant Deputy Ministers.

This position leads an integrated water resource team comprised of technical, administrative, and professional staff who deliver geoscience, flood and dam safety, and water authorizations for the West Coast Region in a way that is consistent with ministry priorities and legislative requirements. Key challenges include: improving our understanding of present and future water supply and availability leading to statutory decisions regarding proposed water use, reservation, and preservation; and program oversight for the monitoring and surveillance of dams and dykes to ensure public safety across the Region.

**Job Requirements**:

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a field related to natural resource management.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in leading and coaching diverse natural resource management teams in a formal supervisory role.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in administering the BC Water Sustainability Act, or a similar provincial, federal, or state water act.
- Experience developing and maintaining working relationships and resolving problems with stakeholders and First Nations in natural resource management
- Experience organizing, managing and leading multiple complex projects simultaneously using accepted project management techniques, manage issues, solve strategic problems, provide leadership expertise, gain commitment, secure resources and accomplish goals.
