**Job Summary**:
The Supervisor, Operations Paramedic Services will report to the Deputy Chief/Manager Operations in the Paramedics division of the Health department. The incumbent will ensure the smooth flow of operations, oversee the paramedics, investigate complaints and recommend solutions, monitor assigned ambulance operations, conduct performance audits, handle labour relations issues, manage the paramedics and ensure provision of advanced patient care.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Monitors all assigned ambulance operations within the division to ensure efficient service is maintained at all times and ensures all applicable operating policies and procedures are understood and implemented by paramedic personnel.
- Ensures all assigned staffing, facilities, drugs, equipment, vehicles and supplies are safeguarded and maintained at the appropriate levels.
- Provides leadership and direction to the paramedic staff.
- Provides orientation to newly hired staff.
- Provides first response and patient care at the advanced care level.
- Ensures paramedic personnel respond to multi-patient situations in a timely and coordinated manner.
- Provides on-site management and leadership at major incidents.
- Performs periodic performance evaluation audits to identify training and job rotation needs of paramedic staff.
- Maintains a review of subordinates, recommending remedial action where required.
- Investigates internal and external inquiries and complaints, prepares report and addresses follow up actions (discipline, remedial, process change) as required.
- Handles day-to-day labour relations including Occupational Health and Safety issues and the Verbal Stage grievance process.
- Conducts regular routine station, vehicle and equipment inspections and ensures all necessary reports are prepared, processed and that confidential patient reports are secured and collected as dictated by policy.
- Ensures good community and public relations are maintained with respect to contact with the public, allied agencies, government, local stakeholders and hospitals by addressing any problems or concerns in a timely and efficient manner.
- Reports all potential internal and external controversial issues to the Deputy Chief/Manager of Operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Skills & Qualifications**:
**Essential**:

- Current certification as an Advanced Care Paramedic and eligibility to work as a paramedic as defined by the Ontario Ambulance Act.
- Certificate in Supervisory/Management studies and/or a minimum of two years relevant experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Familiarity with the Ambulance Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Successful completion of Halton Region's Emergent Leader Program within 6 months from the incumbent's start date.

An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

- Rotating twelve(12) hour shifts.
- Travel may be required; incumbent must provide their own transportation.
