**Junior Health and Safety Coordinator**

**Health and Safety Coordinator** will support operations by providing guidance and assistance at the site level with, health and safety program implementation, execution of planned health and safety initiatives, and adherence to legislative & company standard requirements. Work closely with site operations to ensure appropriate health and safety practices are in place, understood and effectively used to avoid preventable health and safety occurrences.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Provide on-going, in-field coaching to operations personnel to help drive adoption of safe behavior, and adherence with health and safety requirements and expectations
- Assist sites with the execution of health and safety improvement plans, identifying improvement areas, developing and supporting execution of action plans
- Work directly with the management teams, to ensure implementation and ongoing improvement of health and safety systems within the operation
- Participate in the effective communication and execution of programs associated with the Health and Safety Management System
- Assist in the development of safe work processes for industrial, aggregate and construction projects with a focus on high-risk activity
- Provide on-site support in conducting incident investigations and ensure timely reporting
- Assist with action tracking and follow-up for health and safety audit action plans to ensure all items have been completed effectively and on time
- Support site management to ensure the early and safe return to work for injured employees

**Specific Accountabilities**:

- Ability to work flexible hours as dictated by the requirements of the position.
- Comfortable in outdoor industrial, mining, aggregate and construction project settings.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage multiple activities.
- Mature attitude and ability to work effectively independent of supervision.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Strong organizational skills, with ability to attend to detail, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to relate to persons at all corporate levels, with diverse educational, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds.

**Requirements**:

- 1-3 years of experience working in an operational-type role; Health & Safety preferred
- Applicable College or University is considered an asset
- Strong ability to use a variety of office suite software programs. Experience with Site Docs considered an asset
