**Job Description | **Horseback Riding Guide

**Responsible to**: Director, on-site daily supervision

**Department**: Equine

**Usual hours of work** : 30 hours per week, schedule TBD, must work Tuesdays, Thursdays and some weekends

**Usual location of work**:AshfieldFarm, 8594 Franktown Road, Ashton, ON K0A1B0

**Period of employment**:June 19, 2023 to August 18, 2023 (9 weeks)

**Pay Rate**:$15.50 per hour

**Essential Functions and Responsibilities**:

- Under the direction of the Equine Director, provide daily care for horses including feeding, grooming, cleaning stalls, turning horses in and out, and monitoring horse health
- Work in a team to lead trail rides for guests, creating memorable experiences with utmost attention to safety
- Teach or assist with beginner horseback riding lessons, at the discretion of the
Equine Director based on your skill and experience
- Facilitate pony rides for campers and other guests
- Keep the barn, barnyard, and equipment tidy, assisting with maintenance such as fence repair or tack repair, as needed
- Care for small animals such as goats, chickens, pigs, ducks and rabbits, including feeding, cleaning living spaces, and monitoring health
- Facilitate programming for children related to horses, small animals and farm lifestyle, according to a curriculum
- Assist with administration and promotion of farm programs as needed

**Skills and Attributes**:

- Must be able to work as part of a team
- Must have people skills to be able to welcome and provide customer service toward guests
- Must be able to provide instructions to guests
- Must be prepared to work hard and undertake physical labour were needed
- Experience in horseback riding and tacking up an asset
- Prior experience of working with children is an asset
