The Medical Office Administrative Assistant is the 'face' of the clinic and the first person a visitor sees and speaks with at the clinic. This position supports excellent patient care by assisting the medical staff in managing client activity.

**Responsibilities**

A Medical Office Administrative Assistant ensures all activity runs smoothly by engaging in a variety of administrative tasks including (but not limited to):

- Updating and maintaining patient records
- EMR management including: Patient check-in, appointments, filing, and updating medical charts
- Transitioning paper records to a digital format by performing data entry
- Sending tissue and fluid samples for laboratory analysis
- Communicating with labs, healthcare providers, and insurance companies
- Scheduling and confirming appointments
- Calculating billing amounts and sending bills to patients and insurance companies
- Leading patients to exam rooms or other areas and explaining medical procedures
- Maintaining medical inventory by ordering new supplies and equipment as needed
- Cleaning and re-stocking examination rooms
- Other duties as required.

**Qualifications**
- Completion of High School Diploma/GED. A certificate in Medical Office Management will be an asset
- One (1) to two (2) years experience working in a medical practice or hospital environment

**Skills and Attributes**
- Attention to detail, solid problem-solving skills, and an analytical ability are required.
- Working experience with Wolf EMR
- Understanding of billing codes and procedures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients, external partners and internal team members.
- Must work effectively and efficiently with others and alone, be punctual, communicate openly, take direction well, and show some independence of judgement and action.
- Must provide own transportation to the Medical Clinic, located in Onoway, AB.
