**What you will be doing**
- Manage, maintain, develop and update as needed, raw material specifications.
- Develop an attribute sampling program (to include critical, major, minor defects) for all plants to follow when reviewing finished goods.
- Develop and convert “plant friendly” language for “defect” definition across all plants. Ensures all related documents are comprehensive and up to date to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Provide formal quality reviews at each plant (quarterly or bi-annually, frequency to be determined) in addition to presentation updates at Holdco meetings. Liaise with plants on scheduled conference calls regarding quality with the appropriate representative at each plant.
- Provide training to different employees on quality attributes, aiming to have a deep understanding of raw material specifications, meat quality defects, overall presentation, and quality of finished products to meet customers’ requirements.
- Key point of contact and customer liaison (MLF QA to Customer QA representative) on specification requirements and points of clarification. Act as a liaison between Maple Lodge Farms and customers, maintain and foster positive relationships with direct and open communication. Collaborate with Management, Operations, QA, NPD, Sales, Marketing and customers when investigating and communicating issues.
- Provides follow-up on specific issues, complaints and trends with plants and customers. Ensures identified actions steps at plants are executed and results are sustained.
- Investigation of complaints received with detailed determination of root causes and preventive measures in order to prevent recurrence of issues.
- Perform storefront audits for key customers and provide on-shelf feedback on various plant performance and competitor benchmarking.
- Develop and organize MLF Sensory Evaluation Program at each plant to include standardized feedback documentation and follow up.
- Regular travel will be required and on an as need basis to Customer sites, retail storefront locations, Mississauga, Brampton and Nadeau and EVP.
- Works with Plant Management and QA team on projects that will improve existing production processes. This includes the planning, organizing and executing assigned projects as well as providing analysis and an overall report of the project.
- Develop team capabilities through continued on-the-job and formal training opportunities and coaching.
- Provides overall direct management of cross functional team and / or business area and includes management of individuals directly through subordinate supervisors or managers.
- Establish goals and priorities and communicate them clearly and effectively. Evaluate QA performance by providing feedback to all cross functional departments to ensure that all work is carried out in an efficient manner and in accordance with individual set targets.

**What you will bring**
- Minimum undergraduate degree required in Science, Technical or related field.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in quality assurance and, and/or research and /or research and development in the food manufacturing industry (preferably in meat and a unionized environment);
- Team-player with excellent leadership skills, able to motivate others, negotiate effectively, and interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success in building strong, collaborative teams, setting stretch objectives, and holding people accountable for commitments with a track record of delivery favorable results.
- Ability to work/ excel in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential.
- Analytical, with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMP, HACCP, BRC, food safety, food quality, etc.
- Knowledge of process improvement tools
