- Report directly to the PSB Intake Supervisor and indirectly to the PSB Intake Manager.
- Conduct a thorough and impartial review of complaints.
- Utilize active listening, dispute resolution skills and written communication, in an effort to understand the complaint and work towards resolution or commence the preliminary investigation for the purpose of a Police Service Regulation investigation.
- Locate and communicate with involved parties.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners when working through dispute resolution or Police Service Regulation investigations.
- Locating and reviewing secondary sources of information such as video surveillance footage, medical records, related reports, transcripts, and records.
- Support PSB investigations through principles of major case management.
- Document investigative findings or resolution methods.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**: Diploma or University Degree in a related field.
- **Experience**: Minimum of five (5) years Related experience in policing, professional standards, conflict, or dispute resolution.
- **Customer Relations**: A demonstrated ability to focus on and deliver exceptional customer service.
- **Communication**: Active listening, consensus building and dispute resolution skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to write comprehensive reports. Proven ability in defusing high conflict interviews with challenging individuals.
- **Achieving Results**: A proven track record of achieving and exceeding goals and expectations. Demonstrated ability to make good decisions. The ability to balance a heavy file load and multiple competing priorities through effective resolution techniques, file management, and creative thinking.
- **Operational Effectiveness**: Appropriately addressing all complaints in a fair, transparent, and timely manner. Ability to analyze the investigation and provide recommendations with supporting rationale. Focus on continuous improvement and innovative ideas.

- **Investigative Acumen**: Demonstrated ability to conduct unbiased thorough investigations. An understanding of Major Case Management principals is an asset.
- **Understanding of Police Accountability**: Recognize the importance of oversight and accountability. Extensive knowledge of the Alberta Police Act and Police Service Regulations.
- **Technology**:Proven ability working in systems and mining information. (e.g. MS Office, Adobe, IAPro, CARM, NicheUA, CPIC or open source systems)

- As part of your pre-hire screening you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.

**Hours of Work**: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

**Salary Range**: 21B, Salary Grade: 062, $37.527- $53.611 (Hourly) $3,002.20 - $4,288.90 (Biweekly), $78,356.38 - $111,939.77 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
