The McGill Office of Religious and Spiritual Life (MORSL) provides multi‐faith resources and programming for the religious and spiritual well‐being of all McGill students. They offer support to students across the religious, spiritual, and secular spectrum and encourage students’ spiritual exploration through workshops, events, publications, and a lounge and meditation space.

Position Summary:
The Discover Spiritual McGill Fair Coordinator assists MORSL in planning and coordinating a brief series (2-4 days) of activities relevant to faith and spirituality on campus. Purposes of the fair and these activities include helping increase visibility of religion and spirituality on campus, increasing religious literacy, and to strengthen connections between students of different backgrounds and belief systems. This position has a variable number of hours per week, with intensive hours the week of October 23-27, 2023.

Event planning and coordination:

- Strategize and organize several activities/events to develop as parts of the Discover Spiritual McGill Fair.
- Reserve necessary spaces and resources, prepare necessary materials, activities, and plan refreshments. Prepare detailed event facilitation plans.

Community coordination:

- Do outreach work with McGill’s faith and spirituality clubs and groups and volunteer partners. Organize the involvement of members of the multi-faith network, and encourage them to get involved and contribute to the success of the fair.

Event promotion:

- Strategize, plan, and participate in executing promotional efforts to help engage fair participants and volunteers.

Animation:

- Attend the fair events and help facilitate the activities. Coordinate volunteer efforts, set up, and take down.

General:

- Perform other duties as required; occasional frontline reception duties during lunchtime period (11:30-1:30)

- Excellent communication skills (listening, speaking and writing)
- Skilled in event coordination, community outreach, and group animation
- Enthusiastic about spirituality and/or faith and about supporting others in their spiritual and religious lives/identities
- Demonstrated interfaith/intercultural competency
- Has a friendly, open, approachable personality and is comfortable initiating connections with people and groups they have not met before.
- Competencies in Microsoft Office tools in a Windows environment
- Able to organize tasks and manage time to successfully meet deadlines and objectives
- Strong organization skills. Good at record keeping, keeping track of tasks, deliverables and deadlines, responds to inquiries in a timely manner
- Discreet, tactful and able to maintain confidentiality
- Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day-to-day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 4 on a scale of 0-4.
