**National Retail Specialist - NRO**
**Oakville Home Office - Full Time Position**

The Salvation Army Thrift Store, National Recycling Operations, is a division of The Salvation Army - the largest non-governmental provider of social services in Canada. We help generate funds to support local programs and services like food banks and homeless shelters while contributing to environmental sustainability through retail and recycling.

This position is intended as a building block in the assembly of a retail operations team capable of providing support to the ever-growing demands of NRO’s retail operations through strong analytic and reporting functions.
**ACCOUNTABILITIES**
**1. Analysis and Reporting**
- Support National Retail Manager - NRO with identifying additional KPIs for retail analytics and running reports on the existing ones.
- Highlight variances, concern areas, and trends in the retail performance and tracking reports and report findings to National Retail Manager - NRO, District Managers, and National Leadership Team as needed.
- Generate, monitor, align, and maintain retail performance and tracking reports (e.g., using Visual Touch (VT) - the POS (point-of-sale) system - Financial/Performance Tracking Reports, Production Plan, Labour Planner, Managers' Visitation Report (MVR), Donation tracking).
- Labour control (checking how many labour hours are used in comparison to store operational expectations).
- Review monthly recap and forecast reports.
- Provide more immediate and ‘real-time’ monitoring and engagement with the stores in matters of performance by analyzing daily results and using the VT reports available to address any areas of opportunities.
- Monitor national inventory of products to ensure sufficient distribution throughout districts to meet their sales and production targets.
**2. Communication, Operations, and Administration**
- Administer communications (written/verbal), organize meetings and summits, and act as support for National Retail Manager - NRO.
- Provide bench strength and succession planning for department. Support National Retail Manager - NRO, focusing on more targeted and value-added areas within retail operations, as well as executive issues and responsibilities; i.e., reviewing MVRs to make sure they are done as per Organization’s expectations, Visual Touch analytics.
- Provide resources and back up needed to ensure proper coverage of Retail Operations Department when NRM is unavailable.
**3. Projects**
- Develop, implement, and maintain specific performance improvement initiatives for Retail Operations Department in coordination with Manager of Special Projects & Initiatives (e.g., Price Matrices, Door2Floor Program, etc.).
- Ensure proper support is given to other business units to fulfill proper rollout and implementation of projects.

**MANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY**
- Direct report to National Retail Manager - NRO.
- No direct reports to this role.
**FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT**
- May be authorized to handle small amounts of cash (e.g., for traveling).
- Some input to annual budget or revenue projections.
**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Position is based out of NRO’s Home Office, in Oakville, ON. Opportunities to work from home may be available at times, should operations allow.
- Travel will be required up to 10-15% of time locally. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- When use of vehicle is required, corporate communal vehicle will be available, or mileage will be reimbursed.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education, Qualifications and Certifications**:
- Completion of a formal post-secondary/college/University program of three academic years in Business Administration, Finance, Business Management, or any other related field.
- A higher level of education will be considered as an asset.
- Valid Driver’s License and clear abstract required.
