**Key Accountabilities**:

- Manage the HACCP and pre-requisite programs which include verification of documents, onsite observations, updates for new products or processes, and a yearly reassessment to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Maintain and coordinate recall policies and processes, oversee all pest control activities, including activities of the pest control provider.
- Assist in the follow-up of corrective actions and preventative measures from audit findings. Recommend and implement approved improvements to production processes, etc. that increase food safety.
- Assist and accompany CFIA inspectors during the performance of their CVS tasks and Risk-Based sampling. Implement and manage CFIA rules and regulations.
- Provide daily guidance to QA Department staff and plant employees to ensure that HACCP System is strictly adhered to, and company food safety rules and policies are followed.
- Accountable for preparation and participation in all third-party and regulatory bodies. Maintain professional interaction with all the third-party auditors / CFIA.
- Participate in internal and external quality and food safety audits and operational reviews. Conduct quality audits. Provide timely feedback to the QA Manager and the Plant Management on quality issues, and food issues and recommend corrective actions and preventative measures.
- Audit production facility and processes to ensure managers/employees adhere to HACCP, Quality Systems, and Quality Assurance programs. When there is a deviation, this is reported to management to implement compliance.
- Participate in QA projects such as microbiological sample collection (e.g., Salmonella, Listeria) collecting template data, validation studies, new product launch, etc. with a goal of improved compliance and operational efficiency.
- Assist the QA Manager in orienting all employees on quality, regulatory, and food safety principles and policies and in ensuring they remain current in their knowledge.

**Qualifications**:

- BSc in Food Science or related field
- In-depth knowledge of HACCP, FSEP, GMPs, food microbiology, sanitation, and Federal food regulations
- Minimum 2 years of Quality Assurance supervisory/training/auditing experience in a food processing environment
- Strong computer proficiency in statistical analysis, computer-based researched, and database management
- Ability to work independently or with mínimal guidance
- Strong decision-making skills, leadership
- Excellent communication skills
- Working knowledge of (BRC) British Retail Consortium Audit Process preferred
- Ability to supervise and coach the QA team when required.
- The position demands a large amount of decision-making in which there is a high degree of interaction with other departments.
- Challenges to this position include the highly regulated nature of the industry, critical attention to detail, and the requirement for solutions to non-programmed problems daily.
