**Functional Analyst**:
Student Information Systems supports staff across the university to ensure accurate student data and efficient processes. The work involves thoughtfully connecting people and technology, is challenging and ever-changing, and requires innovative thinking and clear communication.

**Typical Duties or Accountabilities**:

- Understands and documents business requirements and processes and models them in Banner Student, Banner Document Management, or Degree Works.
- Takes responsibility for the functional configuration of system modules and features.
- Investigates and resolves problems in Banner Student, Banner Document Management, and Degree Works.
- Identifies and provides recommendations for possible procedure and / or policy changes and improvements to business units.
- Exercises discretionary decision making with respect to system configuration as well as resolutions to gaps in functionality.
- Develops and takes responsibility for the execution of test plans to ensure that Banner Student, Banner Document Management, and Degree Works meet user needs as documented.
- Provides change management support to Banner Student, Banner Document Management, and Degree Works end-users through training, documentation, and second-line support efforts.
- Provides input into the definition of priorities and deadlines for the department's work.
- Meets deadlines and follows defined priorities.
- Helps with the development and maintenance of student reporting infrastructure through functional specification and testing.
- Develops and executes simple reports and queries using Crystal Reports or similar tools, as required.
- Maintains productive and professional working relationships with other SIS staff members.
- Works in conjunction with other project teams as required during configuration, implementation, and support efforts.
- Develops and maintains excellent working relationships with academic and administrative colleagues at all levels.

**Education**: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.

**Licenses**: A minimum of three years of work experience in student related processes; experience in providing support and training to end users of a student information system; experience in producing and maintaining procedures manuals for use by staff; and experience in running reports and queries from a student information system. Experience in the use of the Ellucian Banner Student product, Banner Document Management, the Ellucian Degree Works product, the Ellucian Recruit Customer Relationship Management system, and Crystal Reports would be an asset.

**Experience**: A minimum of three years of work experience in student related processes; experience in providing support and training to end users of a student information system; experience in producing and maintaining procedures manuals for use by staff; and experience in running reports and queries from a student information system. Experience in the use of the Ellucian Banner Student product, Banner Document Management, the Ellucian Degree Works product, the Ellucian Recruit Customer Relationship Management system, and Crystal Reports would be an asset.

**Skills**: Demonstrated detailed knowledge of university and college processes related to course offerings, student records, registration, grades, faculty actions, advising, and document management; demonstrated familiarity with processes related to exams, graduation decisions, transfer credit, and transcript production; ability to work effectively as part of a team; ability to acquire new skills quickly; enthusiasm for new challenges and an ability to share that enthusiasm with others; strong organization skills; demonstrated ability to set priorities and work to deadlines; highly effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to create and deliver user-friendly presentations of complex material; ability to think creatively and find innovative solutions; and change management and process re-engineering skills. An understanding of the roles of administrative staff, academic staff, faculty, and students in recording and accessing student information would be a strong asset.
