**Community Development Coordinator James House Program**

McMan Youth, Family and Community Services Association of Calgary & Area is an organization making a difference in the lives of more than 2600 vulnerable children, youth and families annually. We support children, youth and families with complex needs that can include mental health issues, addictions, homelessness, poverty and disability by providing them with the services and supports they need to thrive.

The James House provides safe and stable housing options and individualized supports for 27 adult individuals who are facing homelessness. The James House operates from Housing First, Harm Reduction and Trauma Informed Practice models of care. We help individuals coordinate with a team of professional and personal supports to help residents focus on their growth and development, whether that be their health and wellness, increasing their employability skills, or strengthening their connections in the community. Through our innovative service delivery model, individuals will transition into permanent housing within a 10-month time frame. After transition from the James House, McMan will remain connected with former residents for three months to ensure their team of care remains strong and they have the necessary resources to meet their goals.

McMan is recruiting for a **Community Development Coordinator** to join our team at the James House providing building management, community engagement, building and maintaining community engagement within the Hillhurst community, coordinating access to education and employment resources for residents, and recruiting landlords and building companies that would be interested in housing our residents.

**Some of the key aspects of this role include**:

- Building Management (Lease management, collecting rent, issuing notices, liaison with HomeSpace Maintenance team)
- Provide comprehensive community resource for residents (Housing, Education and Employment)
- Plan and conduct group educational sessions on topics related to housing
- Developing opportunities for tenants to create community within building
- Build strong relationships with key community members to support transitions, skill building and landlord relations
- A degree or diploma in Human Services
- Capability to play a key role in building, networking, and coordinating activities with the Community that advance McMan’s reputation and awareness in the community which create a healthy, inclusive community for all.
- Experience with the Residential Tenancy Act for Alberta preferred
- Strong writing, organizational, program planning and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated interest and knowledge of Indigenous history, language and culture
- Experience with HMIS data preferred
- Current standard First Aid Certification and Suicide Intervention Training
- A current (no more than 6 months old) Police/Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Intervention check
- Have a reliable vehicle and proof of adequate vehicle insurance
- This role requires flexibility in work hours together with evenings and weekends.
