**Position Mandate**:
This position works closely with the Vice Principal of Operations and Finance, all John

Knox Christian School parents, staff, and supporters, ensuring that all financial policies

and procedures are followed and that a confidential, caring atmosphere exists in and

around the finance office.

**Qualifications and Requirements**:

- Previous Accounting experience.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, and related software.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Have an ability to meet deadlines promptly with mínimal supervision.
- Be prepared to handle all aspects of JKCS’s financial requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality of all financial information.

**Specific Responsibilities**:
**Accounts Payable**
- Maintain QuickBooks using proper account codes.
- Ensure timely payments of all payables.
- Maintain orderly records of all cheques and invoices processed and credit

card payments.
- Follow up on any queries on statements.
- Complete all other functions related to AP.

**Accounts Receivable**
- Prepare and send out tuition statements.
- Collect all enrolment fees (formally capital assessment) due with the

registration materials.
- Collect tuition payments, maintain pre-authorized debit agreements,

post-dated cheques & tuition spreadsheet (July 1-June 30)
- Process monthly deposits of tuition and all other revenues.
- Complete all other functions related to AR.

**Development**
- Deposit and account for money for all events.
- Attendance at all fundraising events.
- Ensure that proper procedure is followed for the collection of funds at all

events.
- Provide all events with a final tally concerning funds raised versus

expenses.
- Processing of all ongoing and returning donations, tracking and recording.
- Support development in their promotion of school initiatives.

**Budget**
- Act as budget coordinator - send out information packages to all budget

holders, establish a timeline for completion of packages set up

spreadsheets, and fill out current information as received.

**Tax Receipts**
- Input all information regarding donations and tuition on the Donor

Manager System receipting system on a per-deposit or event basis.
- Maintain an orderly file of all receipts processed.

**Year End**
- Preparation of year-end binder, audit working papers and supporting

documentation.
- Complete reconciliation of all accounts and prepare required reports.

**Banking**
- Monthly Bank reconciliations for all accounts.

**Compensation**

Compensation is in line with the Edvance/JKCS Salary Grid.
- The position requires not only regular school days but also regular time

during school breaks as required.
- While the position is not compensated for any time related to the

Christmas Break or March Break, the reality is the position requires

ongoing work during these times. This can be coordinated into time

worked from home.
- Pension at 8.05%.
- Annual salary based on qualifications and experience.

**Accountability**
- This position will report directly to the Vice Principal of Operations and

Finance.

**Salary**: From $60,000.00 per year
