**Facilities Summer Student**

**Seasonal Contract - Full-time**

**(May - August 2023)**

As a Facilities Summer Student, you will have access to a team of talented and experienced individuals. In this hands-on job you will work in an environment where you will gain transferable skills that will help you throughout your career.

**WHAT IS AMAZING ABOUT THIS JOB**:

- Ability to work outdoors gaining experience with lawn maintenance and gardening to include horticultural activities
- Opportunity to operate large power lawn mowers, edgers, hand tools, and large vehicles associated with ground maintenance and landscaping activities
- Ability to operating pick-up trucks for hauling purposes
- Utilize your skills to do demo work including hauling building debris
- Perform some minor maintenance and repair on equipment and tools
- Utilize your skills to maintain manicured grounds (weed removal and dead-heading)
- Work with tools to install and remove signs, parking and traffic control barriers, and overhead banners
- Gain hands on experience working with Facilities trades staff
- Assist with special events and other general work orders
- Follow all safety guidelines of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and promote a safe and healthy work environment including complying with all training provided. Your safety comes first

**YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU**:

- Have earned your stripes and have a High School diploma
- Can drive with a valid full G license or G2 at minimum that is in the clear
- Want to learn and gain experience operating and maintaining small hand tools and light equipment
- Value accountability and can work independently
- Understand the importance of building relationships and are kind and courteous
- Are willing to go the extra step and work some weekends
- Can do some heavy lifting
- Enjoy working mostly outdoors
- Complete the necessary Health and Safety pre-training requirements and wear the appropriate safety boots and clothing
