**THE ORGANIZATION**
Garrison Creek Community Daycare (GCCD) is a non-profit Child Care Centre overseen by a volunteer board of directors. GCCD is dedicated to creating the right balance of play-based learning and nurturing care for more than 40 years. We strive to create an environment in which children, ages 18 months to 9 years, will develop, play and learn with confidence. GCCD is located in Niagara Street Junior Public School in the King and Bathurst area in downtown Toronto.

**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**
GCCD is recruiting a full-time Director, responsible for the successful leadership, overall management, and operations of the organization. Typical GCCD serves around 125 children from toddlers to school age.
The Director is responsible for making decisions regarding the strategic and operational needs of the Centre in consultation with the Board of Directors. The role requires a strong leader, with the ability to manage a diverse group of children, families, and staff with compassion and skill.
**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
- Operational Excellence_
- Deliver high-quality early learning and child care services that welcomes families and provide a culture of inclusivity and respect for all.
- Supervises the planning/delivery of a developmentally appropriate curriculum for all children in the centre.
- Ability and willingness to attend after-hours meetings, workshops, seminars and networking events as required.
- Provide leadership, support and resources when dealing with difficult situations related to child behaviour and/or development issues.
- Leads staff teams and supervises assigned staff in an unionized environment including monitoring and evaluating staff performance, assigning, and scheduling work, overseeing attendance management, approving salary increments, issuing discipline and managing grievances.
- Promotes effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, and continuous learning.
- Plans and implements parent involvement and engagement.
- Encourages the health, safety and well-being of all children and staff in the centre,
- Manage the wait list, admissions and record-keeping of all families, including regular wait list review.
- Review and revise existing policies and procedures and the Parent Handbook as required.
- Manage centre emergency situations or hostile behaviour.
- Financial and Legal Reporting_
- Establish positive working relationships and ensure that programs/services meet all legislated and regulatory requirements, Board-approved policies and program quality standards, including, but not limited to: Child Care and Early Years Act, Municipal Regulatory Bodies, Legislation, policies and procedures related to health and safety.
- Work closely with the Toronto District School Board and the Principal of Niagara Public School regarding space sharing, work permits, maintenance requests, etc.
- Develop and oversee the annual budget and ensure that the program operates within the budgetary parameters established.
- Maintain up-to-date financial records in collaboration with the bookkeeper.
- Meet all financial reporting requirements including annual budgets and audits, invoices for subsidy payments, pay equity, etc.
- Support the Board of Directors through open and frequent communication, including review of any internal or external policies or issues that affect the operations, reputation or success of the centre.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- A Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE), must be a member in good standing with the Ontario College of ECE.
- Five years or more experience in the field of child care.
- Considerable experience supervising staff, as well as leading, coaching, motivating and developing teams in an early learning and child care centre.
- Extensive knowledge of government legislation and policies related to the delivery of early learning and child care.
- Knowledge of collective agreement administration and interpretation, labour relations principles, and relevant employment legislation, including human rights and occupational health and safety.
- Demonstrated knowledge in preparing and administering a budget.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with children, parents, staff,teachers, outside agencies, funders, regulators, and the public.
- Familiarity with HiMama or other child care software considered an asset.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal reference check.
- Valid Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate.
- Immunization records up to date.
