Located in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, St. Michaels University School (SMUS) is a Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 day and boarding school with a global reputation for academic excellence. St. Michaels University School’s External Programs Department offers an array of educational enrichment programs for all students. During holiday periods (winter, spring, summer breaks), the programs provide a learning experience for students aged 6-17 that emphasize skill development, cooperation, participation, and fun.

SMUS Camps will deliver summer boarding camps for students aged 13-17 between July 4th and August 10th, 2023. We offer camps focusing on leadership and ELL, volleyball, engineering, game development and music.

**The Position**:
Under the direction of the Director of External Programs, the Summer Program Coordinator delivers a welcoming, respectful and fun experience for campers, and implements the policies and procedures to ensure the smooth operation of all summer boarding camps.

The Summer Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting the day to day operations of our overnight camps, including ELL program support, pre-arrival preparation, document collection, airport transfers, student orientation, and farewell celebrations. The successful applicant will be a self-starter who is motivated, organized, and capable of creating a positive sense of belonging for all participants, volunteers, and staff.

**Hours of Work**:
June 5 to August 18, 2023: weekdays, 40 hours per week.
- Completed or enrolled in relevant post-secondary education such as Business, Recreation, or Education.
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience in program development and delivery.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Use sound judgement to solve problems or escalate issues as appropriate.
- Ability to be collaborative and team oriented.
- Enthusiastic, energetic, a self-starter.
- Ability to work independently, set priorities and schedule and meet deadlines with conflicting demands.
- Ability to work cooperatively and develop positive working relationships.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and be highly organized.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Experience using Microsoft Office software: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Valid First Aid certificate.

**Responsibilities include**:

- Supervises, schedules and supports ELL instructors.
- Prepares and leads the welcoming orientation and closing ceremonies.
- Assists instructors in setting up special events; meet with instructors daily in order to determine any special requirements; purchase supplies as necessary.
- Prepares class lists, student reports, completion certificates.
- In consultation with the Director of External Programs, responsible for activity planning including all related tasks such as arranging transportation and bookings.
- Ensures all transportation is booked for off campus activities.
- Communicates with the Homestay Coordinator, and ensures that host families are all aware of special requirements for field trips, are updated when the schedule changes or receives any other important information as necessary.
- Schedules and supervises Cultural Ambassadors.
- Completes incident and accident reports as needed.
- Takes photos and uploads them to file sharing site.

**Criminal Record Check**:
Must pass and maintain a clear Solicitor General criminal record check for the purpose of working with children.
