We currently have a Permanent, Full-time opportunity for a Family Support Coordinator with the Pregnancy and Infant Loss (PAIL) Network. This position reports to the Program Manager.

PAIL Network is a Ministry of Health funded organization that provides peer support to families who have experienced pregnancy and infant loss and education to healthcare and support professionals at no cost, anywhere in Ontario. Peer support is provided online, over the phone, and in person by trained volunteers with a lived experience of pregnancy and infant loss. Our Education program offers professionals resources and information to support the skilled and compassionate care of families, using a family led approach that is based in research and best practices.

The Family Support Coordinator develops and oversees peer support programming, working closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure seamless implementation of in person, online, and phone support. The Family Support Coordinator will have direct contact with bereaved families who require support with the navigation of services and processes as they relate to pregnancy and infant loss in Ontario.

**Summary of Duties**:
Family support coordination:

- Conduct regular audits of the family support program to ensure programming continues to meet the needs of bereaved families.
- Have regular meetings with the Volunteer Coordinator to review volunteer participation in peer support, discuss upcoming programming and volunteer needs.
- Oversee the development of family support curriculum as needed.
- Create and develop new family support resources as necessary, review existing resources to ensure information is current and follows best practice guidelines where applicable.

Service Navigation:

- Work to reduce barriers to access and advocate for bereaved families across various systems (largely mental health and employment, but on occasion legal, housing, social etc.) to facilitate the introduction to and initiation of services in a timely manner.
- Regularly check in with families who have initiated navigation to determine if their circumstances or needs or goals have changed and if they are satisfied with current services.
- Explore service options and engage in an ongoing process of researching and vetting service providers to assess for suitability to support bereaved families across Ontario.
- Proactively share community service/program updates with other team members.

Community Engagement and Relationship Building:

- Community Presentations to healthcare professionals, grief and bereavement services, local service providers, and at local community events to increase awareness of pregnancy and infant loss, as well as PAIL Network service provision.
- External site visits with community healthcare and support providers to cultivate collaborative relationships and facilitate information sharing and referrals for support where applicable for families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss.
- Attend and present at sector related workshops/conferences to promote and educate the public about pregnancy and infant loss and engage in networking to build knowledge about service offerings.
- Coordinate In-Service presentations by local service providers (including public and private sector, where appropriate)

Other duties may include those needed for the ongoing growth, development and execution of the services provided by PAIL Network.

**Qualifications/Skills**

Specific Skills
- Excellent family engagement and rapport building skills with an understanding of client-centred care.
- Knowledge of and passion for working collaboratively with bereaved families, especially marginalized, racialized and/or LGBTQ2S is preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of the barriers and challenges faced by families in culturally diverse, newcomer, and/or low-income communities is a definite asset.
- Advanced skills in verbal and written communication with well-developed listening skills and an understanding of companioning bereaved persons.
- Strong ability to work within a team and engage in collaborative working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Knowledge and understanding of grief and bereavement services across Ontario, including relevant government policies that impact families experiencing pregnancy and infant loss.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with relevant healthcare and support professionals, community mental healthcare and support providers, private sector service providers and other community agencies and resources to assist families with accessing services and to support successful introductions to services where appropriate.
- Ability to complete required client documentation in a timely manner that adheres to PHIPA standards.
- Highly self-directed with excellent organizational and time management skills.
