**Group Orientation Coordinator**:
DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society Surrey, BC $23.00 to $27.00 per hour

The Group Orientation Coordinator works with Newcomer Information and Support Workers and RISE Case Counselors to develop tools and approaches to identify the emerging needs of the clients they serve through a holistic and non-prescriptive lens. The Coordinator then develops, implements and facilitates group orientation workshops based on the needs identified. The Coordinator bridges the needs of clients across both RISE and Settlement Programs by overseeing the coordination and cross referral process.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the group orientation workshops of the Refugee and Immigrant Specialized Experience (RISE) and Settlement Programs by coordinating necessary facilities and equipment as well as developing appropriate program content;
- Develops, implements and facilitates group orientation workshops for RISE and Settlement clients based on information gathered through collaborating with the RISE Case Specialists and Newcomer Information and Support Workers;
- Works with the RISE Case Specialists and Newcomer Information and Support Workers to identify emerging settlement needs of clients through a critical assessment and cultural awareness framework. Using this information, identifies group orientation topics and facilitation approaches that are appropriate for each client population;
- Maintains attendance and required records of group orientation workshops and an updated schedule to share with Settlement and RISE staff;
- Identifies trends of client needs that are common between the RISE and Settlement Programs and provides group orientation workshops for a combination of RISE and Settlement clients;
- Collaborates with RISE Case Specialists, Newcomer Information and Support Workers or Interpretation and Translation staff to provide language assistance in workshops when needed;
- Provides support and input for program guidelines and policies, program standards and licensing requirements;
- Represents the organization or program in external meetings/events if needed;
- Shares and collects mutually relevant information with internal departments and community partners;
- Performs other duties as required by the Manager.
- Diploma in related field (human/social service);
- Minimum of two (2) years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
- Professional level written and spoken fluency in English;
- Second language required. Professional level written and verbal fluency in at least one (1) of the Settlement & Refugee and Specialized Programs contracted languages; (preferred languages included are Mandarin, Korean, Arabic, Punjabi, Swahili, Tigriniya)
- Experience facilitating workshops for newcomers and vulnerable minority populations;
- Knowledge of anti-oppression frameworks;
- Understanding of the issues newcomers and vulnerable minority populations face pre-migration and during settlement;
- Ability to work successfully and cooperatively on interagency project initiatives;
- Demonstrated cultural awareness in working with others;
- Knowledge of the settlement sector and processors;
- Sound knowledge of community resources and ability to network and build partnerships;
- Strong interpersonal communication skills;
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team;
