Group Orientation Coordinator

We are currently recruiting a Group Orientation Coordinator to support our Settlement and Integration Program. The Coordinator works with our Newcomer Information and Support Workers (NISW) to develop tools and approaches to identify the emerging needs of our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the group orientation workshops of the Settlement Programs by coordinating necessary facilities and equipment as well as developing appropriate program content; Develop, implement and facilitate group orientation workshops for Settlement clients based on information gathered through collaborating with the Newcomer Information and Support Workers; Work with the Case Specialists and Newcomer Information and Support Workers to identify emerging settlement needs of clients through a critical assessment and cultural awareness framework; Maintain attendance and required records of group orientation workshops and an updated schedule to share with Settlement staff; Identify trends of client needs that are common between the Settlement Programs and provide group orientation workshops for a combination of Settlement clients; Collaborate with Case Specialists, Newcomer Information and Support Workers or Interpretation and Translation staff to provide language assistance in workshops when needed; Provide support and input for program guidelines and policies, program standards and licensing requirements; Represent the organization or program in external meetings/events if needed; Share and collect mutually relevant information with internal departments and community partners; Performs other duties as required by the Manager.Qualified Candidates will possess:
Degree or Diploma in related field (human/social service);Minimum of two (2) years recent related experience; Exceptional written and verbal English language communication skills; Second language required. Written and verbal fluency in At least one (1) of the Settlement & Refugee and Specialized Programs Contracted Languages – Arabic, Punjabi, Mandarin, Dari/Pashto at a professional level; Experience facilitating workshops for newcomers and vulnerable minority populations; Knowledge of anti-oppression frameworks; Understanding of the issues newcomers and vulnerable minority populations face pre-migration and during settlement; Ability to work successfully and cooperatively on inter-agency project initiatives; Demonstrated cultural awareness in working with others; Knowledge of the settlement sector and processors; Sound knowledge of community resources and ability to network and build partnerships; Strong interpersonal communication skills; Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team; Good knowledge of standard office equipment and software applications. This position requires union membership. A CriminalRecord Check is a requirement of employment.
