**The Opportunity**:
Reporting to the VP Clinical Care and Chief Nurse Executive, the Manager leads the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic directions/areas of focus and the strategic plan for the Program in collaboration with the Medical/Clinical Advisors and with input from stakeholder and the Windsor Foundation, who have funded the program. The Manager effectively uses consensus building processes, facilitation skills, knowledge translation, evidence-based decision-making and sound human resource practices, to lead the Program in achieving its strategic directions and mandate. The Manager develops, oversees, and takes responsibility for aspects of an annual operational plan that reflects the Program’s strategic goals but is flexible enough to allow the Program to respond to emerging issues at the Health Authority, Zone, facility or provincial level, and to contribute to national issues relevant to Pediatric Health care as appropriate. The Manager leads the Program in providing advice to the Minister and/or Deputy Minister of Health and the Department of Health & Wellness (DHW) and the broader health system regarding health care utilization issues, evidence-based systems change, access to services, quality improvements, policy directions, advancements in clinical care and emerging clinical or system issues.

The Manager builds effective relationships with partnerships at all levels within hospitals, public health units, health authorities, primary health care practices, government agencies, health professional associations, academic institutions, and other stakeholder groups to facilitate collaborative efforts required to promote quality assurance and improve the health of paediatric populations. The position will also help inform and advocate for a provincial child care strategy for the province of Nova Scotia.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provides strategic leadership in the planning, development, monitoring and evaluation of Pediatric guidelines in collaboration with leaders in IWK Health, Nova Scotia Health and health authorities in NB and PEI
- Leads the development, implementation and evaluation of the strategic plan for the PEDs LHS in collaboration with the Medical/Clinical /Advisor(s)
- Develops strategic partnerships with key agencies including government and non-governmental departments, agencies, and organizations at a strategic and systems level.
- Ensures the strategic directions of the Program align with those of the IWK, NSH, DHW and the broader health system
- Leads/co-leads provincial initiatives that contribute to the health of children, address the needs of vulnerable and diverse populations, support established policy directions, or support health care providers working in pediatric care.
- Leads the development and implementation of the annual business plan for Peds
- LHS in consultation with IWK leadership, TREKK leadership and IWK Foundation.
- Assumes overall responsibility for financial oversight and budget monitoring for Peds

- Provides strategic leadership in the planning, development, monitoring and evaluation of pediatric standards and guidelines, in collaboration with leaders in IWK Health and Nova Scotia Health.
- Provides expert level advice that reflects evidence and best practices and supports quality improvement initiatives in the care of children and families.
- Develops pediatric l standards and/or customizes standards from national organizations to be used within the Nova Scotia healthcare context
- Contributes to quality assurance reports for pediatric care.
