The **Manager Africentric Learning and Communications** mandate is two‐fold; to manage external communications, create, and implement partnerships strategies, plan programs,

support the implementation of the DBDLI Strategic Plan and implement the DBDLI communication and public relations plan; and, to coordinate the activities of the Africentric

Publishing Program (APP) and promote, nourish interest, and forward the goals of African Nova

Scotian publishing efforts.
- Working with a rich variety of media and communications styles/strategies
- Knowledge of the criteria for course development processes and a variety of education strategies
- Development and implementation of operating budgets
- Working and communicating with different individuals and external stakeholders, particularly not‐for‐profit organizations, media representatives, and other relevant actors as well as those with unique barriers
- Ability to manage projects
- Knowledge of publishing organizations, current and emerging publishing trends, and the publishing process and major organizations in Atlantic Canada and beyond
- Effective professional writing and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of how to research and navigate all parts of the grants and funding processes
- Effective marketing and promotion skills
