**Position Title**
- Applied Research Technician IV (Energy Innovation Centre - Term until Aug 2024)**Position Summary**
- The Centres for Manufacturing and Energy Innovation invite you to join their team as the Applied Research Technician IV.- The Applied Research Technician IV provides support to Red Deer Polytechnic Applied Research Projects in the Centre for Innovation in Manufacturing (CIM-TAC) and Energy Innovation Centre (EIC). This position supports specific research projects by assessing the problem, developing key design criteria, creating research design (both products and processes), doing routine technical/engineering analysis and calculations, troubleshooting equipment, performing experiments, and collecting data, synthesis and presentation of data, research support such as gathering information, and reporting. Advanced skill levels involve tasks of greater complexity and require greater independence of action.**Position Responsibilities**
- Technical support for both internal and commercial projects in the areas of mechanical design, programming, instrumentation and/or mechatronics
- Performs standard tests or experiments (materials testing)
- Support projects with gathering test samples and recording of results (examples: validation experiments, 3D scanning, metrology, fabrication testing, 3D printing, instrumentation testing, augmented reality validation, robot programming)
- Assists with literature reviews

**Required Qualifications**
- Student in Engineering Technology or Engineering in a mechanical, electrical, computer or mechatronics engineering (or recent graduate)
- Experience with manufacturing equipment
- Proficient in a computer language

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Experience working in the Energy Innovation Centre
- Experience working with clients to solve problems
