The Safe Mobility section provides leadership toward the City of Edmonton’s efforts to achieve Vision Zero, zero traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries, by 2032. Endorsed by City Council in 2015, this work encompasses transportation and city-building efforts from across the corporation, as outlined in the Safe Mobility Strategy 2021-2025. The section consists of three units that represent the core “5 Es” of traffic safety: Engineering, Automated Enforcement, and Planning and Community Activation (Evaluation, Education, and Engagement). The purpose of the Safe Mobility Strategy is to achieve Vision Zero through safe and livable streets in Edmonton, and each unit’s outcome supports this work. The Planning and Community
Activation unit develops and shares evidence-based and Edmontonian-informed solutions to positively influence engineering, enforcement, partnerships, traffic safety culture and road user behaviour.

Working within the Safe Mobility section, this position works closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a liveable and inclusive City, where citizens have an active voice in making our streets safer and more livable. This role works with other City departments and external partners to support communities and organizations in communicating information, coordinating programs, projects and events, and supporting services that respond to the needs of the community regarding matters of Safe Mobility. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for building and nurturing multiple relationships for information sharing, advocacy and action to better service Safe Mobility within Edmonton’s communities. Your projects will be complex, multifaceted and will require a coordinated approach to manage multiple deadlines and manage a wide variety of stakeholder interests and needs. Your success in this position will be measured by your ability to achieve results in a respectful, inclusive and service-minded style.

With a focus on the City of Edmonton’s Cultural Commitments to Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, you will:

- Recommend, develop and lead short and long term community relations projects and education strategies that reach targeted audiences and stakeholders to achieve specific Safe Mobility outcomes
- Manage the Vision Zero Street Labs, Vision Zero School Kit and Safe Speeds Toolkits programs
- Manage assigned projects, campaigns and events from conception to close, including stakeholder identification and engagement, planning, implementation, evaluation, reporting, and follow-up, all within established budgets and in line with Council and Branch directives
- Support research of best practices and behavioural barriers, provide feedback on the performance of various social marketing and community relations tools
- Promote awareness of various community and Safe Mobility initiatives, campaigns and events via targeted programs, services and communication strategies to engage the community in proactive behavioural change through various media channels
- Collaborate with Communications and Engagement in the implementation of strategies using a variety of behaviour change tools, including all forms for social media, collaborative programs, education resources and public outreach
- Liaise with other City departments, internal and external stakeholders, agencies and community partners on joint Safe Mobility initiatives and provide advice and guidance that contribute to solutions and action plans
- Initiate, support and liaise with multi-sector networks, work team and committees toward building program and project plans that include communication strategies, implementation strategies, evaluation and knowledge sharing
- Support and facilitate cross-departmental efforts to engage with communities and facilitate collaborative efforts with community members to identify systemic barriers to Safe Mobility issues
- Facilitate the development of and participation on external networks and committees ensuring that corporate perspective is represented and participants align with Safe Mobility’s goals and outcomes
- Act as a Safe Mobility programs specialist, including advising internal stakeholders on how to access appropriate community relations services, ensuring integrated responses and overseeing/maintaining program such as the Driver Feedback Sign and Speed Trailer programs
- Provide event planning support, including collaborating across the corporate to ensure a coordinated approach to event resourcing and program delivery
- Perform other related duties as required

**Qualifications**:

- Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent or higher in Communications, Public Relations, Community Development, Recreation Administration, Business Administration, Education or a related degree
- 5 years of progressively responsible experience in communications, public engagement or community development
- Demonstrated knowledge of communit
