- 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM, 4ON 4OFF Monday through Sunday, weekdays and weekends.

The Mobile Support Services functions as a mobile drop-in, bringing a little of Boyle Street Community Services to those who cannot come to us. It runs from 12 PM-8 PM, seven days a week from November 1 until May 15. The purpose of the Mobile Support Services bus is to deliver life-saving services to those living in poverty, connecting people with services and programs best suited for their needs, and to offer transportation and shelter for community members.

- **Job Purpose**

The Mobile Support Services Bus is a mobile drop-in, bringing a little of Boyle Street Community Services to those who cannot come to us. The program runs seven days a week, from November 1 until April 30.

The purpose of the Mobile Support Services Bus is to:

- Deliver lifesaving, survival-based services to those living outside the city.
- Link people with services and programs appropriate for their needs.
- Connect with other Winter Emergency Response Drop-Ins to ensure coordination of services.
- Transport people to shelter when appropriate

**Position Responsibilities**
- Drive a defined route to areas frequented by people experiencing homelessness and poverty (i.e., bottle depots)
- Interact with community members, many of whom are sleeping rough, effectively:

- Identify and address emergency needs.
- De-escalate highly charged emotional situations.
- Refer and connect individuals to other service providers to help meet long-termneeds.
- Safely transport community members to emergency shelters and drop-ins.
- Be part of a team that helps maintain the security and consistency of the Mobile Support Services Bus.
- Record data about access to the Bus services and complete daily activity logs.

**Qualifications**Post-secondary education in the Human Services would be an asset
Police Check with the Vulnerable Sector and Child and Youth Intervention Check completed within the past six months
Valid First Aid certificate or enrolled in a future course

**Valid Class 1, 2, or 4 driver’s license is needed to drive and operate the bus, with a clean driver's abstract**

**Skills, Abilities, and Attitudes**
- Understands the challenges and stresses facing people who live in poverty.
- Experience working with Indigenous peoples and individuals from diverse cultures.
- Treats people with respect and in a sensitive manner.
- Knows how to problem-solve with people who face emotional and psychological challenges.
- Able to handle multiple demands simultaneously; exceptionally well organized.
- Can de-escalate tense interpersonal and group situations.
- Listens well, has a calm demeanor and knows how to solve practical problems.
- Experience organizing group recreational activities.
- Comfortable completing shift reports and doing some data entry.

Additional Requirement:

- Physically fit. Should possess the physical ability to respond quickly to and de-escalate

effectively difficult, potentially volatile situations in a confined space.
