Sun Life Global Investments (SLGI) is one of Canada’s fastest growing institutional asset managers in the Defined Contribution (DC) industry. SLGI primarily markets its funds to DC plan sponsor that are clients of Sun Life’s Group Retirement Services (GRS) and to Sun Life’s Client Solutions division.

We are seeking to fill a very important product role to support our Institutional Business segment. The mandate of the role of Director, Institutional Products lead out the management and development of our institutional product lineup. The incumbent will work in close collaboration with the Institutional Business, Marketing, Portfolio Management, Investment operations, Finance, etc..

To succeed the incumbent will foster strong relationships across the SLGI organization, as well as continually seek to be abreast of new trends and potential cross functional opportunities within SLGI's wealth ecosystem.

This role can be located anywhere in Canada (with a preference for Toronto and Montreal). The incumbent will report directly to the Assistant Vice-President, Product & Investment Analytics with a dotted line to the Head of Institutional Business.

**What will you do**:
Product Management
- Keep abreast of institutional product, market and investment trends and challenges, and provide timely reporting on market developments to the Product team, Head of Institutional Business and Chief Investment Officer
- Research the competitive landscape, help maintain detailed product comparisons and assist in preparing Institutional Business Development & Client Relationship team fact sheets
- Serve as a resource in answering queries related to Manager Research, RFI/RFP, sales pitchbooks and Client reporting & institutionally driven analytics
- Maintain and update a historical record of the institutional product shelf with key focus on significant changes to solutions/funds and benchmarks
- Attend relevant industry conferences, as required

Product Development
- Work with Product Development, to assess institutional demands, detail out potential initiatives, construct a mapping of the Institutional product roadmap
- In partnership with Product Development lead institutional product development initiatives, including managing the working groups through the proposed changes and removing hurdles

Go-to-market Leadership
- Work with the SLGI Business Units to increase institutional market awareness
- Work closely with Institutional Marketing product positioning and placement, and support key marketing initiatives from a product perspective
- Contribute to the evolution of the Institutional Business & solutions Unique Value Proposition (UVP)

**What do you need to succeed**
- 10+ years’ experience in institutional/group retirement investment products
- CFA designation an asset
- Strong knowledge of pension/institutional landscape (in particular Capital Accumulation Plans) and investment funds (in particular Target Date Funds and decumulation solutions)
- Experienced in utilizing eVestment/Mercer Insight, MorningStar, etc.
- Commitment to professional growth through continuing education
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and drive, pursue results and lead change
- Strong collaboration skills including listening and facilitation skills with the ability to work with various functional teams
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to build and maintain strong, trustful relationships with all levels of the organization
- Team player that is accountable and client focused
- Strong problem solving and decision making skills
- Strong attention to detail, while maintaining a view of larger business issues
- As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.
