Job Summary

Reporting to the Director Workforce Planning, the Manager, Workforce Scheduling provides full-time strategic and tactical support to ATS (Air Traffic Services) leadership in the development and implementation of workforce scheduling frameworks, new and ongoing scheduling practices and guidelines that meet the organization’s needs while ensuring corporate governance, compliance, quality assurance and alignment with collective agreements, mandates, guidelines, policies, processes in support of the corporate-wide operations.

The position leads a high performing management team that manages the national scheduling office and supports FIR (Flight Information Region) management teams in the development, maintenance, completion and monitoring of ATS operational employees' schedules, including the optimization of schedules, the short-term capacity planning and the efficient daily scheduling of available resources.

The position is also required to advise senior management on scheduling related trends, potential risks and recommend cost effective solutions to scheduling issues. The position provides expert advice, guidance, analysis to various corporate functions, business partners and leaders including labour relation, and leads/participates any scheduling related projects, including scheduling technology and workgroups or pilot-studies.

In this role you will:

- Leads organizational compliance and quality assurance of processes and ensures corporate oversight of the scheduling function.
- Leads and manages the team responsible for the end-to-end cycle of workforce scheduling activities within ATS
- Develops scheduling analytics, metrics and reports, and provides scheduling-related research and analytical insight to recommend options, solutions and improvements for effective decision making and planning.

What you bring:

- University degree in an area related to Business Administration (Industrial Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Statistics, and Business Administration) an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3 or more years of experience in resource planning preferably in scheduling or rostering.
- 3 or more years of experience in people-leadership, preferably leading and coaching managers, and high-performing teams, with demonstrated experience in leading through change.
- Experience with schedule analysis and/or people analytics, including conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses that identify trends.
- Extensive knowledge of scheduling practices, principles and processes such as assigned schedules, line bidding and preference bidding systems.
- Extensive knowledge of collective agreements and any applicable legislation in alignment with employee scheduling with the ability to review and interpret related information.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.)
- Excellent technology management skills and system-thinking skills; including the drive to continuously educate themselves on new systems so they can keep up with emerging issues.
